I would love to hear about anyone's experience at Tahaa and Le Tahaa Private Island Resort. We are thinking about the Beach Villa for 3 nights. Thanks.

If you've got the bucks go for it. Pricey but superb service and the most luxurious accomodations we ever had in FP. Decent snorkeling in the channel near the pool area. Wonderful sunset views of Bora Bora. Very relaxing.

Did you stay in an OWB or Beach Villa. Also, we can arrive there very early like 7:30 a.m. or in the early afternoon 3:30 which do you recommend?

We stayed in an OWB. Very nice but the lagoon bottom around the OWBs was all bare sand ( 4 years ago)so there weren't very many fish around the OWBs compared to other places we've stayed in FP. You could opt for either arrival time but whether or not you can get into your bungalow early would depend on availability & whether or not they would let you check in that early without charging you an extra day. Might be a good idea to send an Email to the resort and ask.

The beach bungalows are the best deal. Large, private and very nice. Do a OW on Bora Bora or Moorea.

Thanks Andy. I am also being advised to do Taha'a last. The save the best for last theory. What do you think? Does it really matter?

My wife and I just returned from two weeks in Tahiti, with the last 3 nights, 4 days at Le Tahaa. It was, without question, the best of the best and may be one of the nicest places we'll ever stay in our lives.
We were at Moorea and Bora Bora prior to going to Le Tahaa Private Island and we were thrilled that we saved it for last. Any other way and we would have been disappointed in what came next. Also, definitely go with a beach bungalow. Without question. The OWBs are nice, but if you've done them anywhere else, then you've done them at Tahaa (they're just bigger at Le Tahaa, but very poor snorkeling in comparison). With the beach bungalow, you have your own private compound, your own plunge pool, outdoor shower and tub, etc. It is amazing. Enjoy!

We did the exact same thing, saved Tahaa for last and were glad we did. Even though we stayed at nice places on Moorea and Bora Bora, the beach bungalows at Tahaa are simply amazing. I think the only thing that beat Tahaa was the shower head at the Sofitel Motu. Then again, the outdoor shower in the Tahaa beach bungalow is pretty neat.

It was these forums that convinced me to include Tahaa on my honeymoon and am glad I found this place while doing my research. Otherwise, I may have missed out on a fantastic experience. You are going to love it.

Thanks smc and wcclee. We just decided to switch the order based on the opinions on this board and the TA. We decided to include Taha'a and from what I am reading it is a good decision. We are doing an OWB in Huahine and an Horizon OWB at the Sofitel. And yes, I can't wait to get under that shower head again. Funny how everyone remembers those showers \:\) So the order looks like Huahine, Bora Bora and Taha'a. Any opinion or suggestions are appreciated

Hi All,

Myra, we have not been to Huahine, but Bora Bora is great no matter where you stay (although we loved and would highly recommend Bora Bora Lagoon Resort...and definitely dinner at Villa Mahana). Tahaa will not disappoint and you should feel exceptionally confident in your decision to both add it to your itinerary and to put it at the end. You never need to leave the resort. The spa, pool, views, food, service and people are just exceptional. Enjoy!!!
MYCchic, our trip was 10 days wiht 3 nights at each resort. It was perfect and we'd do it all again in a heart beat.

Just make sure you do not get beach bungalows 59 or 60. They are not nearly as private or out of the way as the other 10 beach bungalows. Those two are between the main lobby and pool, so there is much foot traffic outside of those bungalows.

Hey Myra-

49 is the furthest from the pool, then 50, then 51...59 and 60 are definitely the closest. We loved #51 and can only hope we get it again when we go back! \:\)

We had #57 which was ok, the OWB were off to left of us a bit. I would say anything from 50-54 would be ideal.

We had #52. Was perfect as far as privacy and distance from the pool/"main" area of the resort. Plus, our plunge pool had sun for most of the day (until about 3pm) before the surrounding trees started to block it. (Not all bungalows are as fortunate.) So we were able to get a full day of sun in the privacy of our own bungalow before heading out to the pool or for kayaking, snorkeling, the spa, etc. It was wonderful and we would absolutely pick #52 again.

.We stayed in OWB # 32. We decided to save the best for last so we went for the OWB at Tahaa. It was very nice but if we were to return to Tahaa I would go for the Beach Suites. Myra could you send me your e-mail again and I will send you some pictures of just Tahaa. Hope your e-mail carrier will accept large files

A sunny beach villa would suit us best. From what I can tell some get less sun than others. Any way of telling which ones get the sun?

Myra,

Can't speak for the rest, but ours (52) was absolutely perfect. The neighboring bungalows were similarly situated and seemed to have similar tree coverage. Coincidentally, the neighboring bungalows (and ours) are all in the range of the most recommended beach bungalows (51-53).
Go for 52, you won't regret it!!

Thanks for the tip. Most recommended because of location?

I was on the forum for about 9 months and during that time almost everyone said 51-53 were the best beach bungalows due to their location on the "quiet" side of the resort (i.e. away from the spa, pool and popular beaches and activities) and because the bungalows are set closer to the beach and therefore a little further away from the footpath that goes from one end of the resort to the other. They are also located further down the beach from the docks leading out to the OWBs, so your views are of ocean, not the OWBs sitting out on the ocean, which is also quite nice.
Go #50 or higher and you'll be pleased. But then again, you'll likely be pleased no matter what!

I've got 2 quick questions:

1) Sounds like most recommend Tahaa as the last stop. But, we're thinking about doing the St. Regis at Bora Bora and that sounds extremely nice as well -- would y'all still recommend Tahaa last if you were to stop at St. Regis first (with 1900 sq ft, wraparound decks, private jacuzzi, etc.)

2) Regarding which beach villa in Tahaa, most recommendations look to be in the #50 to #54 range. In looking at the map (http://www.letahaa.com/tahaa_map.htm), #49 looks extremely private as it looks to have it's own beach on 2 sides of the island, neighbor only on 1 side and it's at the end of the footpath. Any thoughts on #49 (if I can even request it).

Thanks all, these boards are so helpful.

We had Tahaa in the middle and received many opinions from this board and several TA's to do it last so we changed. I was wondering about 49 also.

Back a long, long time ago in 2004 (LOL) someone had posted a review on a forum (it may have been this board- can't recall) that #49 was a bit noisy as it is closer to some local homes and the roosters would start crowing in the early AM. However, since that post, I have yet to hear or see any other complaints about it. Even though we were in 51, I did not hear any roosters or see any local homes in that general area. I personally like the view of Taha'a and Raiatea in the distance from our bungalow, and if I had been in 49, it would have been a little bit of a different view. Of course, to each their own \:\)

I think you'll find all the bungalows extremely private on Tahaa. I think we were in 54 and we never felt like anyone was around. 41 would be a bit more of a walk to get anywhere since the pool is on the complete oposite side, but again you won't go wrong with any of them.

Clarification re: the previous post from yllams ... #41 (or #041 as the case may be) is not a Beach Bungalow at Le Taha'a ... it's actually the last OWB on the Sunset pontoon arm ... I think this was just a typo, but anyway ...

I think your talking about Te Tiare In Huahine. Nobody lives on the motu where Le Tahaa is.

Yeah, I didn't think anyone did, which is why I was confused when I was there because I distinctly remember seeing someone's complaint on here and not seeing anything of the sort on the motu!
