I would be incredibly excited to read your blog! (You could also, if you had time, post your blog to a continuing thread here!)
Oh, and just by the by, coffee from Rurutu is really tasty.
PS: Have you ever seen "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis"? I'm sure you will enjoy this latest job posting even more. :o) (Several of my French friends are teachers so I'm familiar with the "civil servant gets posted where he's needed" thing.)

We were just talking about maybe taking a trip to Rurutu once we've settled in, so I'll make sure to try some coffee.
I haven't seen that movie, but I just asked my husband about it. Here's what happened.
Me: "Honey, have you ever seen the movie 'Bienvenue chez les ch'tis'?"
Husband: "Yeah"...:shifty eyes:..."I don't think you'd like it..."
LOL! We'll see :)
If you've been keeping up with the news here, you'll know that there's been problems with the vice-recteur and trying to keep all the stagiaires here instead of sending them to France. In order to keep everyone for next year, they've sent a lot of people (esp. the young, new teachers) to the islands, so I'm not surprised that we were on that list.

LOL. You'd LOVE the movie. It's hilarious and heart-warming in that special way only French comedies have. (Especially if you are familiar with French regional stereotypes, which I am guessing you are if you are married to a French guy.)

am excited to read about your adventures Nat.
We are leaving in three weeks . It will have been six months. We are homesick for our family, but it will be hard to leave here because of the beauty .
But, it is more than the beauty of the island of Huahine. We have had the most amazing times with people here. Tahitian hospitality is divine.
I imagine that there is a dance class there. I cannot believe that there would not be.
We will be returning sometime at the end of October, God willing

Nat, seems like you're getting great suggests here!
I cannot find much in my research on Tubuai other than the names of the 2 couples who ran the peniones that interested me: Sam and Yolande (689 950 552) and Karina and Tale (689 93 23 40). I think they must be related as they have the same last name of Tahuhuterani.
I would love to read your blog!!!!

Thank you, Vaitape, for the info; it really helps to have those phone numbers. (And Yosemitegirl, for the name)!
We're making a list of all the things we'll pack, what we'll bring back from the US, what we're going to ship to Tubuai, etc. It's exciting and scary all at once. We're trying to plan a wedding reception in the US for when we're home, since my family and friends weren't able to come here in November. We didn't even have a "real" honeymoon to speak of. I got violently ill on our wedding night, and he had to return to school the next week :( I know we're technically in paradise, but I've been begging to go to Disneyworld, so I'm taking donations, lol :)
Inese, we're coming up north this summer for a week (ND and MN). Then we'll also spend this Christmas with my family, I think. It'll be almost 2 years since we've seen snow.
I'll let everyone know when I start blogging. It'll be a mix of my life here, but also what I've been cooking, and my commentary on some tv shows, haha!
Thanks again to everyone for all of the feedback. I truly appreciate it, and I look forward to reading what everyone has to say.

Thank you! That comment to vaitape was not intended to be snarky, as if they provided the phone numbers and you didn't, but going back, I can see how it would look that way. I apologize, because that was not my intention in the least!! But thank you again now for this info, it saves me some work. Sometimes the internet can be painfully slow here!!!
