Hi Silvanocat! I'd like to know what kind of excursions have you done in Fakarava. My husband love fishing and I'd like to know if it's possible to do a fishing excursion in Fakarava. What have you seen there? I'll stay in Fakarava (Maitai Dream) 5 nights. Thanks. Bye Martina

Hi Martina,
I stayed at Raimiti which is toward the south of the atoll. Excursions (or discoveries as they called them) were included. One afternoon we (the 4 guests staying there) were told that they were going fishing for dinner and did we want to join them. We went to the middle of the lagoon and caught fish. The next day we went out for a picnic at a motu on the western side of Fakarava. Before the picnic we went fishing for our luncheon fish. We used different methods for catching the fish each day. The first day we just dropped the line and lure in and waited for a tug. The second day we fished closer to shore and dragged the fishing line. It took us longer to catch the fish.
