franco, we have been on several cruises over the years, from Alaska, to the Caribbean, and Mexico. We have been on large liners and small (Windjammer Mandalay and Legacy), and have had fun on all of them. We have always wanted to go to FP, and we at first thought we would do a land only trip. Then we starting thinking about a cruise and then debated between the PG and the TP. If the TP had had the June dates posted a few weeks ago we probably would have booked with them. However, we just decided that having tips, wine, stocked bar, and only 320 passengers on an 11 day cruise where service and ambiance is terrific was just something we couldn't pass on (plus I can leave my tuxedo at home). We have had cabins with balconies on a couple of the other cruises we have been on and I don't think I could now go back to just a window or porthole(we especially enjoyed it on the Princess Alaskan cruise). Even though you say you don't spend that much time in your room, we have found that there is just something exotic/romantic about the wind and fresh air and the overall feeling of openness. I will turn 60 the month before we sail. I figure that not spending an extra $5,000 (or WHATEVER) on a vacation is not going to allow me to retire any sooner, and in fact, if I had to work an extra year to make up for a glorious, exotic, fun filled two week FP vacaton then SO BE IT! (not sure that double negative worked the way it was suppose to, but I'm sure you get the point.

Bora Bora Cruises
TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.
Check our Cruises page for more information

Amen Jim. We did the same thing last year with the Mandalay cruise. Once we settle the land option, then we can start thinking about the shore excursion options. Phew, hopefully the actual vacation will be more relaxing than this!!!

thankfully we are going back again for #3 in Jan 07. first time was a balcony and we liked it, but didn't want to spend the money on #2, so we booked an inside. nice room, but if it you can swing it, get a balcony. #3 will be an aft balcony.

We got our confirmed flights from RSSC today, so are now one step closer. We will be leaving SFO on Thur. morning (June 8th), flying to LAX, and then on to Papeete, arriving 6:20PM (ish). We are excited about getting there so early since we are staying two nights before the cruise at the ICB in a lagoon OWB and will now have just that much more time to relax. April 11th we can start booking shore excursions, but we have already booked a motu picnic with Keishi during our 3 day post cruise stay at the HBB.

30 days until our daughter's wedding, and then we can really focus on getting ready for 'our' cruise.

Steve,
Wife retired four years ago, and I just two, and we especially loved our Princess sea/land tour to Alaska in 2004. We've been big balcony fans for some time, and our Alaska mini-suite was the best so far, and we're doing it again next year. You are so right. The money is just "the money." The memories are the treasures. At 64, I'm a two-time, radical surgery cancer survivor, and my wife has to get a biopsy tomorrow morning. Life's too short to drink cheap wine. This year we're doing an Aranui voyage in Sept., followed by a stay at the Te Tiare on Huahine, for a total of three weeks.

Kelly, we wish your wife the best with her biopsy, and I am impressed with perseverence. My wife is active with Team In Training, so I have been to many functions that had "survivors" speak. The big C can really motivate people!

We retire in a couple of years and figured we better we get our dream vacations in before we have to start dealing with a fixed income.

We have had balconies on a couple of cruises (including Alaska with Princess) and now wouldn't cruise w/out one. This will be our first cruise with RSSC, but we have heard so much about the PG that we had to give it a try.

Franco, we are going to be in FP at the same time, but at different places. You leave on the TP on the 21st and I think that is our first night off the PG and at the HBB.

Getting closer!!!
