Franco, if you can swing the PG in a window cabin (always my choice, for price as well as stability, like Kathy Z), go for it. Then add a pre- or post-cruise stay on an island to make up the 10 days. And as Jim B. says, count the costs--the PG includes lots of free alcohol and completely free non-alcoholic beverages, for instance, and tips. The PG excursions are also fairly reasonably priced, don't know how they compare to TP, but they really aren't much more than the local prices. The PG is also smaller, and so it feels more itimate. The food and service are fabulous, and there are NO FORMAL NIGHTS!!!

TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.

wow, more great answers; thanks so much; my mouse was broken and I couldn't use my computer for a couple of days; Kathy and Wendy, thanks for letting me know you both figured out how to solve the motion on the pg;sr's better1/2 and Jim B, thanks, also for your input;and laurieb was ok on the tp; but, is there anyone out there who took the meds and still got sick on either ship? my husband says (and he has seen me really seasick, but both times I had no meds in me--big mistake) he would rather spend 24 hours with me on one island than 10 days on a cruise and have me sick even one day. anybody who still got sick--even on the meds? sorry I should have named myself franco thw worrier-

Franco,
Where in Illinois? We are McHenry County. Taking the TP in Feb 6, 2006 with my 78 year young parents. Like the slightly larger ship, and the free computer time we get (frequent cruiser plan).
Try Cruise Critic. CC has alot of threads about specific cruises/lines. I'm sure someone can tell you abou their experience on these two ships.

for us, one big plus for Princess is that it goes to Huahine. We had the best time on our snorkel/ motu picnic with Marc's( huahine nautique). I could do without the sea days though. doesn't bother much though, we are planning # 3 for january 07.

well, the possibility of three sea days (some people reported problems docking at the cooks) have lead me to book the 10 night pg for june 21, 2006; however, we had to go with porthole; plus we will get to see Huahine on this one (as the tp, but no cooks to have to get to) if I make it ok on the pg, then next time we'll do the tp and get a balcony; that sounds awesome, too, I just don't like not being on land that much; I love the water, but not being seasick; I just have to make sure I keep the meds in me; thanks for everyone's help; you have all really been wonderful!! franco

Hi everybody, just wanted to post after my 14 days on the PG (back more than a week now.)
We had one evening with really heavy seas, where the ship was pounding up and down. It was during dinner hour, just as we left the Bora Bora lagoon. But I was sitting beside the captain, and he did not turn a hair, so I did not worry. Apparently lots of people scurried back to their cabins, I did not notice. No problem, as long as I concentrated on the conversation and the great food!
