Hello,
I will be on my honeymoon in December on the PG and have a questions about packing. The only other cruise I have been on was in January in the Carribean. The evenings were quite cold aboard the ship and I hadn't prepared for that. Can anyone share their experiences about temperature onboard?
Thanks.

TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.
Check our Cruises page for more information

It will be warm at night but a light wrap for the air conditioning in the dining areas will be welcome. When we cruised in Aug 2003, I found that a long sleeved t-shirt and light weight capris or yoga pants were good for watching the sunrises. Have fun! When in dec are you going?

Franco, Haven't been in FP in Dec, I just know that when we were there on the cruise in Aug, I was happy I'd thrown in the long sleeve t-shirt and yoga pants. So, I plan to bring them this Nov when we return. June is meant to be cooler I guess (August sure was). If I am sunburned (or just a little more toasty than tan!) and have my usual early mornings on deck, I like something a little warmer than a pareo. But that's just me. Your usual summer gear is what to bring......not too much because you are mostly in bathers and pareos. I always pack a long-sleeved UV protection shirt with a flip up collar too and of course a sun-hat and reef walkers. Don't forget plenty of sunscreen and remember to put it on the tops of your ears and the area behind them if you wear your hair short or pulled up, and the TOPS OF YOUR FEET! Nice casual is fine for dinner (like Chicos gear)and don't bring tons of shoes....no one notices anyway! You will have fun!

Vaitape, have a fabulous time! This will be my first time to FP and can't wait. We postponed our honeymoon by a few months so that we could have a nice leisurely trip there. I am slightly concerned about seasickness, but figure the experience will be worth it. Plus, I can always take some medication. By the way, do you recall if there were opportunities for parasailing? I have received some conflicting inofrmation about that. My husband and I are interested in tandem parasailing. Thanks!

mskelly, what I've gathered about seasickness (for what it's worth: take Bonine the night before you board and then for several nights thereafter. My husband (strapping guy and very hearty!) gets seasick and he was just fine. He did wear his seabands though because I asked him to....didn't want anything to mar MY good time! He was just fine. This time though, we will for sure do the Bonine regimen as there is more open water cruising than on the 7day sail. Can' tell you about parasailing as I don;t remember seeing that in Bora or Moorea but that's not to say it's not available. Did you to a search here or at Tahiti Tourisme site? I did see some incredible kite sailing in Raiatea but that's not the same thing. We too delayed our honeymoon several months so that we could have a more relaxing time...........and that was 25 years ago!!!! We are going in Nov to celebrate our 25th....it will be our 8th visit. See what you have to look forward to!!! Manuia, vai

MSKelly I don't know if this interest you, but we were on the PG 02/15/2003 7 day cruise and if we were fortunate to be able to do it again this is how we would pack. PER PERSON 25 to 26 inch upright suitcase (check through) 16 to 18 inch satchell or duffle bag.(check through) 16 to 18 inch satchell or duffle bag. (Carry on) Put half of your items in each suitcase. Put half of your shoes in each duffle and fill with swimwear, t-shirts etc Your traveling partner does the same. Since you can only have 2 bags per person and weight no more than 50lbs each the satchell or duffle bag is great to use since it does not have any weight and you can really load up the heavier things like shoes in them. This will lighten your regular suitcase and you can get more in it. I would make sure your satchell or duffle bag is designed so you can slip it over the handle of your suitcase when walking through the airport etc. Sure makes it easier. Then each of you still have your carry on satchells with all your important papers, meds, etc.
Cheap air matress. (Great to have at Tahaa but definately great to have at Bora Bora beach day.) 8 to 12 ft extention cord(if you want to use dryer in bathroom instead of dressing table. NO COAT AND TIE FOR MEN. 2 pair of shorts (khaki & navy or black) 2 pair of slacks (khaki & navy or black) 3 swim trunks 4 t-shirts. (one to wear snorkling) 4 polo / short sleeve sport shirts. 1 pair reef shoes 1 pair sandals 1 pair dress shoes 1 pair tennis shoes if you like to walk. Ladies make adjustment. sun dresses, pant suits work great. 1 shawl ( for evening. A/C really works well).

FP is nothing like the Caribbean in January, it is Much warmer! As far as oolutside, no need to bring anything for cool weather, it has always been very warm, even with occasional showers. I agree, Bonine is the way to go, just in case.
