We're going to the islands next month on the Tahitian Princess. However, we like setting up our own excursions where we don't have to be with so many people.

How easy is it to book things like snorkeling tours on your own when you're not at a hotel? Do we need to plan ahead or is it pretty easy to work it out once we're there?

Bora Bora Cruises
TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.
Check our Cruises page for more information

when are you going--we are too on june 22; we booked marc's on huanhine ahead of time, and the 1`/2 day with patrick on tahiti ahead of time and moana tours shark feeding ahead of time (all on our own) however, we are doing the tahaa drift snorkel with the cruise line (1/2 day)
some say you can just walk off and book things, but this is our first time-we weren't sure
good luck-

Well, we'll see you, we're on the same cruise! We'll be with our 8 y.o. son.

Did you book with Marc on line or by phone or fax? I sent an email through his web site but got no response.

mikebernhardt-this is the e-mail I used:
huahinenautique@mail.pf
however, I madd the reservation about 5 months ago; but he always took a few days to get back, so if you just sent it, give hime a few days, but then send it again;
for the shark feeding on bora bora I used Frank at
moanatours@mail.pf
he has gotten lots of good reviews
for the half day 4x4 waterfall tour on the second mornng on tahiti I used
patrickaventure@mail.pf
we chose the half day so we could have some walk around time;
on raiatea, we had beeen booked with bruno, but his is all day; we just wanted an afternoon, so even though the price is hour for hour more exesnive, we are doing the tahaa drift snorkel with princess;
we can't wait--we hae beeen planning for 15 months--
we are doing a precruise on moorea, so I 'm no planning anything on that island;
hope all your plans go well; let me knw what you decide; I find all of this stuff so interesting;
also, did you know there is another website also very good as far as the cruise goes-go to cruisecritic.com and go to boards and scroll to pacifica island-all--tons of stuff on the tp-

I just called him and he said he has plenty of room, so we will see you on Huahine.

There is a information building at the boat dock area. You can book tours there and change money next door. They have lots of advice,answers and free maps. The building is run by the local government.

Just walking distance off the cruise ship dock. It is on the same side of the street. You should walk by the buildings if you are entering the cruise ship dock. It was very popular while we were thier.

I think superstar is talking about Raiatea. there is a crafts building on BB where the tenders drop you but no info center. You will find many excursion vendors there, though, with some great trips at great prices.
