Hi,

We will be on the tahitian princess later this winter. It's our first trip to FP. We have arranged to meet with Patrick for a day in BoraBora. Would appreciate any advice with regards to particular guides or excursions people have enjoyed in Tahiti and Moorea above and beyond what are being offered by the cruiseline shore excursions.

Thanks, Bigred

Bora Bora Cruises
TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.
Check our Cruises page for more information

you can find lots of great tours, much better than through the ship. if you haven't checked out cruise critic before, please do. there are threads there that discuss lots of different excursions. the ship is way overpriced and usually overcrowded.

Don't bother taking a tour around Tahiti island, stay and enjoy the Marche. On Moorea we rented a car from where we docked and drove around the island on our own, was very nice.

we really liked Patrick's tour on Tahiti. we got a good tour of the interior of the island. I think we will rent a car and tour the island on our own next time though.

Tahitian Princess - were were on her just this past November. Great ship, good crew & a fantastic desination. We are big fans of snorkelling & this is the cruise on which to do it.

Moorea - I can recommend the Princess Motu Beach BBQ & Snorkel excursion.
Raiatea - we did a privite excursion with Bruno that a group of CCr's booked months in advance. The web site is ... http://www.tahaa.net For us this was the best excursion of the whole cruise!
Bora Bora - we just booked one at the pier & it was pretty good.

Hope this helps.

Dan

I agree Dan of the North, Bruno's was the best snorkeling spots we have ever been to and we've been to alot, Hawaii, Cozumel, Belize, Great Barrier Reef, etc. It was absolutely fantatic snorkeling among the coral but I would suggest bringing snorkel gloves to push off of the sometimes very shallow coral reefs, some of the less experienced snorkelers got a few little scrapes. We also very much enjoyed Marc's motu picnic on the Huahine port of call.

Hello.....I just found this forum and thought perhaps someone could offer us some valuable advise.

We are scheduled for the Tahitian Princess 4/16/07 and are booked on diving excursions in Riatea and Bora Bora.

We recieved our OPEN Water Cert. in August 2006 and our Advanced Open Water in November 2006 and have been on two dive trips to Costa Rica.

I was wondering if anyone has had experiences good or bad regarding dive excursions from the TP. Does anyone know what dive operators TP is using right now? We would like to research these operators in advance if at all possible. Also, we are trying to decide whether we ought to bring our own wetsuits, etc. Any advice?

Any response either negative or positive would be helpful and appreciated.

Thank you in advance of any help...

Hi DanofNorth et al.

This April 18 2008 we are set to sail on the Tahitian Princess and trying to plan excursions.

If you could provide us Canadians your opinion on some of this stuff, we'd appreciate it.

1. What price range are we looking at? We're hearing from $100-200/pp USD. This is for lunch, snorkeling, pearl farm, vanilla farm. Starting at 9:30-3:30pm back to the Tahitian Princess departure at 5pm.

2. How long did it take to tender (as princess puts those on Princess excursions on first tenders)?

3. What method did you contact Bruno and did you put a deposit via credit card?

On the Tahitian Princess, anyone can get on the fist tender, at least on alll 3 of our cruises on her, there was no priority given to Princess excursions. tender time is ver y short, maybe 5 minutes, except at Rarotonga, that was a longer, exciting ride!

A low cost excursion but one of the best for us, was renting bikes while on Bora Bora(the bike rental shop is across the street from the pier)and biking around the island. It took us around 3 hours with a few stops for viewing the sites, visiting a hotel and drinking a soda. I am not very athletic and could mostly keep up with my daughter( although age won out in the end and my husband and I finished together at some distance from her. There were only 2 spots where I chose to walk my bike(loose gravel and one steep grade). We felt we really got an overview of the island. ENJOY!
