Will be going to BB and Moorea in Feb. Will I be able to do any Snuba or helmet dives while I am there? Have heard lots about snorkle and scuba but not so much about either of the others. Help?!

I haven't heard of snuba being available in FP but there are helmet dives on Moorea at Sofitel.

We did a helmet dive at the Beachcomber in Moorea. One of the most amazing experiences I ever had. I don't think it was that expensive maybe $50 a person. The guides were great. Six on the trip they took 3 while the others snorkled then switched. Stingrays were everywhere. The camera man even tried to fix my video camera which died on the first day of the honeymoon for me once we got back to the hotel. Definitely would recommend this activity if you get the chance.

Ocean: Coincidentally we are staying at the BC while on Moorea. I am really looking forward to trying a helmet dive. Was wondering if this time was your first and how difficult was it for you to get used to the breathing underwater thing? I am a bit worried about the stories I've heard about how some people get easily "freaked out" by the whole thing and am sincerely hoping I'm not one of them.

Yes this was my first time helmet diving. Like I said there were six of us on the boat. I let the other 3 go first because I wanted to watch first to see how everything went especially with all the stingrays around. I even made my husband promise he would go in the water first when it was our turn because I didn't want to be hanging out on the bottom by myself waiting for everyone else to come down. I was still panicking as I got in the water but once I got underwater you forget about everything. Breathing was no problem and barely any pressure on the ears once I popped them (no worse then driving up a mountain) A couple of times the water came up over the air tube, the diver was with me he just stopped me until it went back down. I think I had gone down to fast or tilted the helmet, but they were amazing at calming me down. They even convinced me to take my helmet off underwater so they could take a picture (I did it, my husband wanted no part of it which surprised me because he scubas). The guys were great about taking pictures of us with our camera. I think he had my camera underwater more then I did. (Definitely go with a full roll of film) You can buy of tape of the whole thing at the end I think it was about $75-$100. I don't remember I didn't pay attention to the price because I knew it was something I wanted to always remember, plus show everyone at home that I did it.
