What would you say are the best sites in Tahiti to visit? Not necessarily acitivites, but landmarks. What is there to offer?

The market, the roulottes, and a black sand beach. Loved all three!!! The grottoes-sp? are supposed to be pretty cool too, we did'nt get to those though! I'm not sure the places I listed would be considered landmarks either, but I don't think they are to be missed! We did an inter island 4x4 excursion that was really awesome...it was the all day one and we swam in a waterfall (very refreshing), saw lots of beautiful scenery, ate at a hotel in the very middle of the island, it had spectacular views! I know, that's an activity, but it was great! Have fun! The roulottes are really cool and the market is great for all the souvenirs and things you want to bring back for friends. Have fun! Oh, definently ride Le truck, it's cheap and an experience in itself!!!

Grotte de Maraa near Paea is a good one to see. You can take Le Truck to get there (leave morning and return around 1 at the latest) but I wouldn't suggest going further. There is a lagoonarium on the way that isn't too much of a ripoff to see. It's in Punaauia. That would be a good half day excursion using Le Truck.
I wanted to see the Gauguin museum but I think it's better to rent a car if you are going that far.
