I am going to Bora Bora and Tahaa in May for my honeymoon. I love to fly fish and have heard that the area holds big bonefish. Does anyone have any info on the bonefishing around Bora Bora and Tahaa?
Thanks!

I am going in April and will flyfish a couple of days on Tetiaroa--Marlon Brando's island , where there are reportedly few, but large bonefish. The outfitter who handles this island is Mike Cahpman at Tahiti Lures--he indicated to ne that neither Bora Bora or Moorea have good bonefishing--netting cleaned them out. I am not sure about Tahaa-Tahiti Lures has a good website and you could e-mail him. Even if the fishing is marginal , I would fish quite a few hours so that your new wife will understand clearly that any future vacation to a warm climate will involve flyfishing on your part and is an integral part of the trip.

And then I hope the new wife will turn around and make clear that any future vacation to ANY climate will involve surfing, or tennis, or whatever activity is important to her, and is an equally integral part of the trip.

With your attitude, Bonefish II, don't you worry about your wife's whereabouts and activities while you're off chasing the fishies?

Bonefish II.....thanks for the information. I am definately going to take some gear just in case. I think it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Fortunately, my future wife loves to fish, but she has yet to learn how to cast a fly rod. Thanks again for the info.

Cynic--I was just kidding on those comments--my wife did say though that she was going to post anonymously and agree with you--we go on many wonderful trips where fishing is just one of the activiies.

JCJR--yes take your gear and some chartreuse clousers----even with no bonefish you can always goof around and fish off the reefs in 3-5 feet of water --probably pick up something. I've never done that around Tahiti--but it works in other locations.
