Hi all!

I have read a lot of glowing reviews about pascal's and cossetta's drift snorkel through the tiputa (sp) pass on Rangiroa

does anyone know how I can contact them? there has been mention of an e-mail address but no posting. Also I should mention I will only be there for a day since we are cruising through.

TIA

Welcome to the forum.

My travel agent was going to book mine, but we dropped Rangi from our itinerary so it never was completed.

But the real reason why I posted was to tell you about the movie "Coral Reef Adventure".

If you haven't seen it, then you're in for a treat because it has a drift dive through the Tiputa Pass in it with hundreds of reef sharks, not to mention breathtaking aerials of Tahiti, Moorea, BB and Rangi.

It's too bad you will only have one day. It's possible you won't be able to do the drift snorkel because it's totally dependent on the tides. It will either be morning or afternoon. You go right before the tide starts coming in so that you catch the momentum of the incoming tide through the pass. It was one of the most awesome experiences of my life. I will look and see if I have any information on Pascal and Cosetta and I will post it if I find anything. You won't be able to find out very far ahead of time what time the drift snorkel will go on the day that you are there. I also tried emailing the Kia Ora Village ahead of time and it did me no good.

Thomas Marshall I don't know why you dropped Rangi but I, for one, think you made a mistake. It is my favorite of two islands, Moorea being the other. I've been to Bora Bora and Huahine and I don't really care to go back to either but I would go to Moorea and Rangi in a heartbeat.

Kristy,

I totally agree with you about Rangiroa, it was the Island I wanted to visit most, but if you're married you'll understand the word "compromise" (we traded Rangiroa for Moorea).

It hurt like he**, but that's life. At least I'm going back to F.P.

Ahhh, and the good news is my son and I will be going back in 06 (05 is my wife's choice) and we're heading straight to Rangiroa.

For now I need to be content with watching the movie, have you seen it?

Hi Kristy, glad to hear you did make it back to FP! Did you go to KOS? How was that? I'm really struggling to decide if we should go to Rangi next summer after Fakarava. The main reason would be to do the drift snorkel (or dive if I get certified). From your comment, it sounds like it's a don't miss! Sigh, too many islands and not enough time! Would you share some of your reasons why you wouldn't go back to Huahine and Bora Bora. They are on our itinerary. Bora Bora, cuz I want to see what all the fuss is about (I've only seen it from the air on the way to Raiatea). Huahine sounds like a sleepier Moorea. We too LOVED Moorea and plan to end our next trip there since it's where we started last time.

TM I've noticed you raving about the Coral Reef Adventure. I love it too. In fact, we bought it and I put it in and watch just the Moorea segment sometimes when my yearning for FP gets overwhelming! The aerial shots of Moorea are just so incredible. I wish I could be in that ultralight with them! It's so sad about the trouble that the coral is in. I want to plan a trip to Fiji real soon too so I can see all the soft coral while it's still there to enjoy!

Wystiria, Have a great trip! If you do the drift dive, plese report back!

Lisa

Hi everyone,

thanks for the reports, I will just play it by ear then. I figure most people on our cruise wont know the drift snorkel is even avaliable (I hope anyway) so if the tides are right we should be able to do it.We are there from 8am to 6pm so hopefully we will catch the tides.

I will make sure to report back once I am back in the US \:\) I have been a lurker here on these boards for quite some time! found it through the CC folks. Anyway Mysefl and fiancee will be in FP for a month starting October 14th. Can't wait!!!!!! it will be our honeymoon and I am looking forward to the trip more then the wedding these days \:\)

Thanks again!

~oh & Thomas M, I am sure you will have a good time!!! I have been watching your thread on cruises vs land stays, don't worry even if it is a "compromise" you'll still be in FP!!! \:\) and just think maybe you will hit an island on your cruise portion that you have never been to before and then in 06 you can go back \:\)

good luck!

Wystiria-
I don't blame you a bit for being more excited about the honeymoon than the wedding. I've been calling my upcoming nupitals "the f**king wedding" for a while now. If everyone would just leave me alone, it would be helpful!! I just want to be married already. Plus, then we are that much closer to leaving for FP!

Thomas- Just to let you know, I really appreciate your wit. It's too funny.

wystiria - Actually I'm just researching cruises, our trip this August will be on land, and we’re hitting Tahiti, Taha'a, Bora Bora and Moorea.

My wife told me after this next trip that she will never return to F.P. again, this is because it's to remote for her (she loves, and much prefers Hawaii).

So, I was thinking if I went the cruise route, which she loves, I could get her to return some day.

Justine - what a crack up, we felt the same way, both my wife and I couldn't wait to blow the clambake and hit the beach. Our parents wanted the whole nine yards with the big wedding and reception, etc, etc. So we had to accommodate, because after all, they paid for the honeymoon.

Also, thanks for the kind words.

Bizmo - you bet, I've seen the movie at least 10 times and I run bits of it almost weekly to get an F.P. fix.

LOL! I 2nd that for wedding planning, who knew people get so ridiculous about little things! I will admit we are having a "whole 9 yards" wedding, and honestly I think it is easy to plan IF poeple would BUT OUT! the hardest part is having to listen (politely) to what the family "thinks" you shoudl do.

In some ways I am VERY glad we are paying for everything becasue that at least gives us the upper hand \:\) I am also lucky becasue my wonderful fiancee complete deals with his parents who have been a serious problem \:\) But he takes care of that so I am happy!

Oh well at least we have 4 weeks away before we have to see anyone (minus our friends who are coming on the first leg of the trip) Hee hee maybe we will even be feeling happy enough to bring them back awesome FP christmas presents!

Thomas - Good idea on the cruise! if she wants more people and activities etc. then that would be how to woo her to FP. and then think about it this way you can save a little money and maybe stay in FP longer!
