shooting the passes

My husband is ready to shoot the passes in Rangi and Fakarava using snorkeling gear. It sounds cool but scary. Is it just pretty exciting or are there realistic dangers? Would love to hear from whoever has done this.

never heard of anybody having an accident doing it. So, it must be safe.

We stayed at the South Pass of Fakarava, and it was NOT advisable/possible to "shoot the pass" snorkeling because of the current. We did however "shoot the pass" on Rangi and found it disappointing after having been @ Fakarava. Different strokes for different folks. That's why they make Chevy & Ford, or if your prefer......BMW and Mercedes
