bridetobe have a great time diving in Bora Bora. I loved it. I did a 50 minute dive at the site were Manta Rays are traditionally found. We spent 40 minutes looking everywhere for Mantas without success. We were all bumming out.
Then, out of the depths came two Manta Rays right toward us. We sucked our tanks dry interacting with them. It is an AMAZING dive. The lagoon dives are full of schools of tropical fish while the dives outside the lagoon are all about sharks and other pelagics. I hope you'll tell the board about your experience diving.

Lizardlady, I was fortunate to dive in the Maldives a few years ago...long before the tsunami. We stayed at a Banyon Tree Resort on the island of Vabbanfaru. Amazing diving with lots of Manta Ray and shark sittings. Also lots of nudibranchs and other micro-diving wonders. I would highly recommend the Maldives but I have no idea how those islands are doing after the tsunami. It breaks my heart. I was blessed to stay in the Maldives now I pray for those people and those islands.
Tell your husband that they are not full of nightlife. But you love beautiful water, beaches and upscale resorts then the Maldives is/or was the place. We spent our evenings stargazing and that was equally amazing. It's also, like, the curry capital of the world. If you love curry spices, and I do, that place is awesome.
