Don't know a French site, but for those going it would be a lot more helpful from our experience to know some French rather than Tahitian. French really seems to be the main language.

French may be the most-used language in places of commerce but we spent little time with French folks and more with the locals, mostly I guess because we just hung out where the locals hung out. The hotel managers and larger restaurant people may speak only French and English but since Tahitian is the original language of the islands, it is so worth your experience to learn a few phrases. Folks got such a blast when my dear husband would say "Aita e pea pea" and it really sparked further conversation, in English, French, and Tahitian!!! French is helpful of course but so is Tahitian. Plus, most folks know a few words in English so communicating is not a major problem. Just take a French dictionary, visit the byu website to learn a few pharases in Tahitian and you'll be just fine. Gees, sure wish I was going with you!
