You have to go to Disneyland. Its like going to Tahiti and not seeing Bora Bora. Everyone should go at least once in their lives.

LOL
Disneyland it is then! One question, How is the LA Disneyland compared to the Orlando one? Does it have the major rides, such as Back to the Future, Universal Studios, Sea World etc, or is that mainly available just in Orlando?

Magic Mountain is all about roller coasters (very good ones). Disneyland CA is like Disneyland FLA except no Epcot,Universal Studios or Sea World nearby. Sea World CA is in San Diego, about 1 hour 45 minutes south of Disney land. Disney does have its new California Adventure Theme park near Disneyland, but I have not been there and know nothing about it.

Do your Disneyland trip on one of the weekdays you are there, and start early in the morning to avoid crowds as much as possible. Even better if one of those weekdays is gloomy and foggy.
Weekend, summer crowds at midday can mean 2 hour waits at each and every ride.

Disneyland vs Magic Mountain -- IMHO you can easily spend all day at Disneyland, I can only do a half day at Magic Mountain before getting roller coaster overload.
A really neat restaurant is Inn of the 7th Ray in Topanga Canyon.
Another day trip idea -- Ojai -- about 1.5 hrs north of LA. We've stayed at Moon's Nest Inn a couple times, very nice b&b. Highly recommend the Ranch House in Ojai for dinner (both places have websites, sorry don't have the links).
The Page Museum (La Brea Tar Pits) is a neat place for a couple hours and is unique. You can easily do other museums in the area.
Speaking of museums -- the Getty -- 'great architecture, ok collection'. When you consider the collection was a private collection previously it's impressive, just don't expect the Met. Great views. Free to get in but I think you do have to pay for parking 9can't remember, sorry).
If you like arts & crafts architecture, the Gamble House in Pasadena (designed by Greene & Greene) is also a neat place to visit. Pasadena (& Ojai for that matter) will be HOT in July. You could easily combine this with some of the other things in Pasadena.
There's plenty to do in the area for 4 days.

Well, we certainly are spoilt for choice! Maybe we will even bump into some celebs while we're there.
Was also thinking about going to a Lakers game, but not sure the Missus would entirely approve!
