Since flights to and from Easter Island are only 2-3 times a week - the options are usually 4 or 7 day stays. For example, we arrived Thanksgiving morning from Tahiti. As soon as we were off, they prepped the plane, loaded up passengers and continued on to Santigo. There were no other arrivals until our flight back to Tahiti on Sunday.
Our 4 day stay was enough to see the major sites and do a little bit of exploring. There was alot more exploring to do though, so I could see spending an entire week there and have plenty to do.
It is also a 5 hour flight from Tahiti, so if you are only have time to spend a few days in Tahiti, trying to squeeze this in might not be worth it. We were gone for 17 days which included several days each in Moorea, Bora & EI.
A possibly cheaper way to get to EI is to skip stopping in Tahiti and fly through Santiago, Chile. Many more flight options and airlines available to get you to Santiago.

I'll have to look back at our paperwork if I still have it to see for sure. Other than the flight, I remember thinking that the cost of the 4 days there was similar to about 1 day inclusive of hotel, meals, excursions.

Really?!? Wow, if so I will be making the trek on my next trip. Did your TA arrange the guided tours? I get the feeling that EI is like Iceland. You can see almost everything in 3-4 days...

The guided tour came as part of the tour package. For the FP portion we just booked flight and rooms - no tours or meals were prepaid through them. However, the EI portion included the room, breakfast (light continental), and the guided tours. One of the guided tours was a full day and included lunch.

I enjoyed the pics as well. I, too, was unimpressed with Stonehenge, but by the time I got there, it had a big fence around it. Still, a must do I feel, as well as Easter Island is a must do. Maybe someday!
