Planning honeymoon for FP this August and would like to stay in a beach bungalow in Moorea. Any feedback on the Sheraton and Beachcomber would be great. Also, any specific room rec's would be very helpful.

I like the Sherton but the beach bungalows are not too good. They are set back a bit and the walkway for the people to the OW's is in front of your room. The Beachcomber has a few which are in front, right on the beach and are great. I dont know the number but the map at their site should tell you. For Beach Bungalows the Beachcomber are better.

I agree with Pacific Andy. We stayed in a beach bungalow at the Sheraton. There was nothing wrong with the room itself or the location. However, it seemed no different than the garden bungalows. It was just a bit closer to the lagoon than the garden bungalows. Overall, the Sheraton was very nice.

Thanks for your feedback! We are getting closer to booking something and had a few more follow-up qusetions. Did you have a good view from your beach bungalow, or was it obstructed by the OWB's? Also, were they really close together at the Sheraton? I heard that may be the case there, as there is less property.
Has anybody stayed at a beach bungalow at the Beachcomber? Do all have good views, or are some obstructed? It looks from the map that only a few are not blocked by the OWB and I know most hotels will not guarantee a specific room. What about major differences between the two hotels (besides rooms)?

I like the Sherton. The property size is smaller than the beachcomber and it is more Americanized but the snorkeling in front is fantastic. I know the Sherton has gotten a bad deal on this board but its a good place. The Beachcomber property is much bigger so you feel a little less crowded and its more quiet. You also have a few restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The snorkeling is not as good and the beach bungalow are much better. At both places the OW will obstruct your view. Only the three of four at the Beachcomber are unobstructed.

I stayed at the Beachcomber and absolutley LOVED it! I loved that I went all the way to FP and that we stayed in an unamericanized resort! We stayed in a beach bungalow...#310 and it was amazing! We were right in front, on the ocean not inside the manmade lagoon. They were also all remodled and the inside was very nice! I highly reccomend it!

The Beachcomber is wonderful! We stayed there in a beach bunglaow and it was so beautiful and quaint. The bungalows are really far apart and the resort sits on a huge lot, wonderfully landscaped. The Sheraton is too much crammed into a small place. Also, it is so Americanized...if you want to spend the money and fly 8 hours to Tahiti don't stay at the Sheraton because you will be disappointed. You don't get a sence of Tahitian culture at all. The service at the Beachcomber is impeccable as well.
The Beachcomber is so beautiful at night with the torches lit. You can walk around for an hour and almost get lost. The Sheraton is more like a hotel you would find in Hawaii, nice, but not interesting at all.
So my vote is for the Beachcomber! Happy planning!

After reading your information about the Beach Bungalows at the Beachcomber vs. the Sheraton and in other research I have done I think I will book the Bungalows at the Beachcomber. Someone suggested #310. Would this be your first choice. We have another couple going with us and was going to request #310 and #311. Do you think 311 is OK to as far as view and bing right on the ocean? I am also trying to get information on the Tahitian Feast at the Beachcomber. I understand there is one done on the beach but I believe it is only on Saturaday nights. We do not arrive until 9:30PM on Saturday and would miss it. There are feasts 2 other nights of the week there but am not sure they are as good. I am trying to decide if we should do the Tiki Theatre or the Beachcomber. Would welcome any input. Does anyone know what other nights the Feasts at the Beachcomber are done and at what time.

There are two nights when they have the Tahitian Feast at the Beachcomber. I think we went to one on Friday night and there is another on Tuesday night, but I might be wrong. See the show at the Beachcomber. The other one you mentioned is very touristy and not as nice. You are going to LOVE IT!

JennyO Are all of the feast and shows at the Beachcomber done on the beach. It was my understanding that the only one done on the beach was on Saturday night. If you enjoyed the one you saw and it was not on the beach I think we will just do the one at the Beachcomber. I was just worried that the shows not on the beach were not as authentic. Thanks a bunch for the info.
