#34179 - 04/27/03 01:34 PM United-ATN question
Anonymous Unregistered

I have heard conflicting opinions on this: We are flying United from Memphis to LAX on May 11. We leave for PPT on ATN 3.5 hours later. Will United check our bags through to PPT? Does anyone know if they have a reciprocal agreement? We purchased out United tickets to LAX separately, outside of our honeymoon package, so they are 2 completely separate intineraries.

We are concerned that we will run short on time if we have to retrieve our bags. We arrive in LAX at 12:50PM and depart for PPT at 4:20PM.

Any inpt is very appreciated. Thanks!

not sure if UA does or not (i've never trusted the interline baggage handling anyway), but picking up your luggage should not cause that much of a time difference. you will still have to check in at ATN anyway.

3.5 hours sounds fine, but one can 'never' foresee any problems en route. Your flight from MEM appears to have to change flights in Denver, would you really trust them to get all those plane changes correct?

That is why we are nervous. We do connect through Denver to LAX. Because we are getting married the night before, this was the only flight option available to us. I agree about interline baggage checking - makes me nervous, too. I guess we will keep our fingers crossed!!!

Well, well. Maybe we are on the same flight. Our flight from Denver to LAX arrives in LA at 12:50. Congratulations on your wedding! It is really close!

Make sure that you let the ticket agent know what you want to do. We had a newbee in Chicago who had to call in a veteran. They need your ATN ticket so that they can route your luggage properly to Papeete.

Personally, I would not want to lug my luggage all over LAX, from United its about as far a walk as you can get. With 3.5 hours there should be no problem getting the luggage transfered.

You can do the same on the way back. Let ATN know what you are planning. Only thing is that you have to reclaim your bags when you get to LAX, then walk up a ramp and deposit them with security who puts them on a conveyor to your Memphis connection.

Also, if you can use United's express check-in with one of those computer terminals, you can get your boarding passes back to Memphis in 2 minutes and not stand in line at the ticket counter having to recheck your bags that you lugged all the way from the Bradley terminal. (You need any credit card with your name and one with the name of your traveling partner to get both boarding passes).

Amanda and Travel Lord congratulations on your upcoming weddings on May 10. That date is special to me as it happens to be my wedding anniversary. We will celebrate our 6th anniversary. I wish you as much happiness as we have found.

Amanda:

We flew Delta Mem to LAX and no, bags are not checked through. Are you from Memphis or passing thru? Have a great time- we did this mid May 2002 and wish we were back again!
