If baggage handlers can not carry over 35lbs then that explains why they damage luggages by dropping them if too heavy. Can't they hire stronger people, I know qualified workers always cost more...before. But when customers sue the airlines for damaged luggage, they end up paying a lot more money.

correct me if Im wrong, but my last trip on Air France, I was quoted 70lbs per luggage, 2 piece max for economy tickets. BUT, on Air Tahiti interisland, that amount would be cause for overweight charges. So your outbound carrier has much different rules than the a local domestic carrier. Each airline sets their own.
