This will be our tenth visit to FP since 1986, but this time we are going with another couple whom have never been there before. They have listened to us for 20 years now bellowing how great this country is, so they decided to tag along and see for themselves.

Anybody else going there the end of February-first part of March in 2007? We are both middle aged couples from Seattle who speak excellent French. Going to Papeete and Papetoai, Moorea.

I hope your friends have a good time. Seems somewhat difficult to find other people who appreciate and love FP as much as we do. We pump it up and can talk for hours about this corner of paradise but other miss all the beauty that we see in FP: the quiet, the remoteness, the local people, the green mountains, blue lagoon, colorful fish, spectacular sunsets. What more could anyone ask for? If they get cold feet, I'll happily take their place \:\)

rodjune- We have the same problem. Every year we have a ton of people that are going to come and then they don't. People think we are such daring travellers going to a little speck in the ocean. It's lucky this site exists to share the obsession!

Rodjune and Holte, we too have talked up French Polynesia for twenty plus years, but it still off the map on most vacationeers schedules. Actually, that turns out to be a plus for us guys when there are less crowds of people to deal with. We have travelled there from both Las Angeles and Honolulu, but from Seattle, it is a little less actual airtime taking Hawaiian Airlines. The quiet, memoteness, Polynesian people, sea life, and beauty can never be matched anywhere in the world. And, we love the Chineese food served up by the roulottes. It is fresh with no MSG which is common in America. Just talking to you two about it makes me drool. I can't wait til February 2007 rolls around.

We're going Feb 14 until March 4. We're going to our beloved Huahine. We give people the brochures of the different islands and tell them that the pictures don't even capture how beautiful it really is. I tell them that the flight there doesn't really even count as you can "sleep" if you take the night flight, and you would have to sleep anyway. I'm glad to hear that others have issues with telling people about FP because I just don't understand why they're not on the next plane there! Speaking French is such an advantage. I took French is high school and college. I can't remember any of it!

I'm glad that I am not the only one that can not speak French. Our friends think that we are crazy for just flying that far. Then we show some shark feeding photos. Now they think we are just nuts. Leaving March 27.

Hi, I'm going to be in FP on FEB 10, taking the PG cruise--and doing it solo. I gave up on waiting for everybody who is says they are dying to go there to actually get on the plane. Although I haven't been to FP yet, I have dreamed about it for years and have tried to get friends, family, second counsins twice removed-ANYBODY, to go with me. No takers, so I just decided to go myself---period.

My biggest fear is getting hooked by the FP flu and needing to back year after year for a fix, which isn't such a bad idea for me but my wallet doesn't thing so.
