I second Motu Iti - Good for both lunch and dinner - The blue Pineapple has great burgers and the breakfast is very good - They have a "Big" Breakfast plate with pancakes and everything - Excellent

Ooops, thanks Hamara for pointing out the lack of a very important 0 .......Motu Iti bungalow rates are 12000 CPF per noc, not 1200. By the way, Motu Iti has a website so you can take a look, STM. If you get a scooter or bike or whatever, don't forget Pizza Daniel either. Great place with it's 8 stools outside of Daniel's home.

4X4 tour is a must AquaWalk - out of the Beachcomber. You put a large, yello, funny looking deepsea helmet on and walk around on the ocean floor (about 15 to 20 feet deep) Shark & Ray feeding
Retaurants - The Plantation was excellent and so was Alfredo's
Have a great time!

Whatever you do, stay away from Alfredo's. Long waits are expected at most places, but this place is over the top. Drinks are uninspiring. Entertainment lacks something (maybe rhythm). Dogs running underneath tables ar troublesome. Did not seem them on menu. bugs are bothersome. Host is in his own world. Reminds me of a Las Vegas act, like Sigfried and Roy.

Everyone has a different opinion. I have eaten at Alfredo's probably 4 or 5 times and the food has been excellent every time, the service slow the first time we went but never a problem since. Christian, the owner is always charming and friendly with us. I didn't get to see the dogs this last time, I was disappointed. The drinks are drinks and there was no music this last time, but it's music of a sort, nothing to get worked up over. In my humble opinion it's well worth eating there, not as expensive as some places and like I said, the food was excellent.

I'm surprised no one mentioned dining at Le Bateu (Linareva?). It's the floating restaurant over towards the Tiki Village. The food and staff there were unbelievable. I had the shark in a garlic/butter sauce and my wife's parrotfish in a vanilla sauce were amazing. We thought this was the best meal we had in French Polynesia!!
Also had breakfast at the Blue Pineapple which was incredible as well. You cant beat the view and the prices were just as nice. Oh, another good find was another floating place called Nymphea. It was more of a tapas joint and everything was tasty. The owners was a Frenchman named Philipe and he was fun to talk to. I think it was on Oponohu Bay but it may have been Cook's. It's easy to miss as you're whipping around the road at night - be careful!
We didn't eat at our resort (Beachcomber) one single time bedsides a snack of poisson cru. There is so much out there to see and taste! Folks - leave the resort and go get some local flavor!!! We met so many people on our honeymoon who rarely left the resort for dining - that is a shame.

Cubfan the reason I never mentioned Le Bateau is because I had a positive/negative experience there. You're right about the food, it's awesome but....the place is crawling with cockroaches, or it was when we were there. I know there are bugs in FP, I've been three times, but I do not want them crawling up my leg in the middle of dinner. It wasn't only me either. Some poor young bride almost had a heart attack because one crawled up her leg too and it wasn't the same cockroach cause mine got smooshed. My husband saw others crawling around but didn't tell me until after we had left. So..if you have absolutely no problem with cockroaches on the boat...by all means go but if you do...I'd think twice about it.

If you want a nice casual take-out dinner on your OWB deck, go see "Chickenman" (his name is actually Alain) at the yellow truck called "Royal Chicken" near Le Petit Village. Order a roast chicken from him in the morning, pay in Tahitian cash, and pick it up at night, and don't forget the rosemary potatoes! $12 for the chicken, $4 for the potatoes, and this will feed two with enough leftovers for a picnic lunch the next day... the BEST chicken you will ever taste in your whole life! Get a bottle of wine and a baguette at a local magasin, and eat out under the stars on the beach. Awesome and cheap! Tell him that "Randy" sent you! (You won't be sorry...)
