Kristy - sorry to hear about the roaches, we only saw one roach on our entire trip. It was in our room at the Sofitel Motu on BB.

Our dining experience at Le Bateau was so perfect that we told eachother we'd come back and give it some nice plugs on this discussion board. Well here I am 6 months later finally getting around to doing that! Better late than never.

We ate a ton of those baguettes from the grocery just to the right as you exit the Beachcomber. I believe we mostly had jambon y frommage (pardon my French). They were loaded with butter and mayo but we just wiped some of it off and they were excellent snacks thru-out the day.

Barbi,

We picked up a chicken one evening from the chicken man, Alain, with the rosemary potatoes. He also gave us half a bagette to go with. We had dinner that night, chicken sandwiches with the bagette for lunch the next day , and still more leftovers for the stray dogs the following afternoon. It was one of the best deals on the island in our opinion.

I wanted to let you know we had a rental car for 3 days while on the island and talked with many of the locals whom I showed a picture of your dog to. I never found him. Sorry. I hope you have better luck on your trip this month. I picked up cans of vienna sausages which I also fed to the local strays. They loved the vieanna sausages.

Also, back on the food subject. Allo pizza was wonderful!!! We ordered the large mega pizza(loaded with variuos meats & extra cheese) but had them leave off the egg. Not sure what it is with the egg thing on the pizza. Hmmmm!! The guys at Allo were a riot. We had a lot of fun visiting with them. We also picked up a couple of choc mousse and a few young coconuts ... I had one for desert later that evening and the other for breakfast the next morning with my coconut milk. Talk about yummy.

Another good deal is found at the local magasins early in the morning they put out yummy breakfast rolls, pastries, and kiesh (can't remember how you spell that).

After all the good deals and great food on Moorea; Bora Bora food was a bit of a let down. However, keep in mind this is my limited opinion ... neither of us enjoy most gourmet food which we consider to be more about the presentation than the taste. We much prefer cajun french sauces and food that is more about the taste over regular french sauces found in FP so we found the fish dishes with sauces very bland and boring.
..it wasn't the same cockroach cause mine got smooshed
"Smooshed" LOL ~~~ too funny Kristy!! :D
My husband saw others crawling around but didn't tell me until after we had left
I remember waking up in Mexico to my husband standing there shaking the sheets like hell (in my direction) and when I asked what he was doing, he said "getting sand out of the sheets".

The next day (after he had a few beers) he spilled the beans and said that he was actually getting a big fat cockroach off of him...

sheesh! >:o(
