We leave for Moorea in 10 days. Haven't been to this island before so I would appreciate any input people have about what we should do and where we should eat.
We are staying at the Sheraton in an overwater.
If any of you have any recommendations on things to do or places to eat I'd love to hear them? Any excursions stand out in your mind? Do we absolutely have to eat at any particular restaurant?
Here's your chance to weigh in!

You'll be near to the Plantation Restaurant which is excellent and there is also a snack restaurant near there that has great crepe's and lunch type food. If you dive go on the Tiki shark dive.

Hano Iti - Is one of the best restaurants in Tahiti I would also do a Motu Picnic and rent a car and see the Belevedere

Run up the Belvedere. This challenge will cost you 2 years of your life but the grand view with the accompanying victorious feeling of 'yes, I did it', does more than compensate for those 2 lousy years. ,)

well, everyones right about the te hono iti for dinner. moorea has alot of great restuarants! if you rent a car in the morning, try breakfast at the Blue Pineapple at the club bali high before you go riding around. great view of cook's bay. worth the trip!! you eat right next to the water.
jeep tours, belvedere's a must. shark and ray feeding tour. if your big into photos, you'll diffenitly have fun on that island!!! moorea has alot of beautifull churches scattered around island too. really nice for photos. the juice factory is cool too. you can try different fruit liqours. they have a nice gift store there also.
if your on a budget and dont want to spend alot of time eating at the sheraton, there's many cheaper places to eat too. great pizza and chinese food. there is a great roulotte in maharepa. the food is cheap and good. opens up around 5pm and closes around 930 ish. but i'm sure you'll be bringing a guide book with you too, so i'm sure you'll be fine....... have a good and safe trip!!

We found that the Pension Motu Iti has really nice food for reasonable prices. the Chinese food there is very good too. It's a bit of a walk from the Sheraton but not bad.....turn left out of the main entrance. Auguste and waitperson Sylvanna are wonderful. Actually, the whole pension is wonderful and offers an affordable alternative to the larger resorts.....CPF 1200 per night for 1 of the 3 waterside bungalows (not sure what the ones in the row behind the water ones go for). True, there is no beach really to speak of and no pool but there is a dock/platform and the location is superb.

Just got back last week. I recommend the Blue Pineapple at the Club Bali Hai. A good place to probably chat with people who have been to the islands before and an awesome view of Cooks Bay and the mountain peaks. The poisson cru is really good here as are the hamburgers. We ate at Te Honu Iti and it had really good food but maybe just a little to European/French and less "islandish" but delicious nonetheless. But our favorite - hands down - was Le Mahagony. They will send a taxi shuttle over to the Sheraton to pick you up. The atmosphere is what we would expect on Moorea. We thought the poisson cru Chinese-style was extremely tasty and the mahi mahi with vanilla sauce to be the best of the five places we tried it on Moorea and Bora Bora. There was only one waiter there, named Heiva, but he serviced all the tables better than probably two average waiters. We loved the friendly dogs runny through the restaurant. There was a great dessert menu but they were out of the one we wanted so we ate the pineapple half soaked in rum with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy! As far as the Sheraton, do the continental breakfast from the canoe (3900 cfps) - great photo opportunity plus delicious poisson cru, croissants and breads, juice and fruit salad.
