those airfares to Central America are incredible now. I just saw a literal walk up fare from SFO to Costa Rica for $400. Unfortunately I know NOTHING about Costa Rica or Belize. Im leaving soon for Samoa and believe me, I am tempted to change it because the airfare is $1100!

Kristy - Thanks for the website. Did you do the all day motu picnic? If so, what were the hours and did you get to do a lot of snorkeling while on it?

Kathy - I'll let you know about the snorkeling at the Relais when we get back. I too loved the snorkeling in Belize (16 days on Ambergris Key) but hated having to go out by boat every time. I won't go back for that reason. Do you find a lot of fish that are different from the Caribbean varieties in Tahiti?

Hua_Gal and Pacific Andy - I guess everything is a trade off, which doesn't make decisions any easier!!

Thanks again.

Nansea I haven't gone yet! We leave the 29th of August and will be on Moorea for 5 nights and then on to Rangiroa for 4 nights and then Huahine for 4 nights. We are going to do the private Motu picnic via waverunners. I can hardly wait. It's expensive but I've read that it's worth it. I will be booking two excursions through Huahine Nautique so I'm hoping to get the 20% off of the big excursion. I've already written them once and asked and they assured me that that is how they do it.

Kristy,

What is your second excursion? It looked like the motu picnic covered everything pretty much.

Hi Nanesa, Yes, you will see some different fishes. The snorkeling in FP is really good. You don't see the huge nurse sharks and groupers but there is a lot of different fish in swimming pool like water. I don't think it matters where you go snorkeling you are always going to see something new if you go out often enough. The scenery if much more beautiful in FP than Belize--it's very different. We were on Ambergris Caye for 10 nights. Also stayed in Cayo district and inter-tubed through river caves and visited a huge mayan temple and the amazing Belize Zoo--we loved it.

Costa Rica was my other choice for this year's vacation. Maybe next year!

Nanesa, I forgot to ask when you were going? We're going the end of August.

Kathy,

We are planning on July 12-26, with our 3 nights in Huahine being the 19th-21st. However, we have hit a snag - Relais only has 2 of the 3 nights available for our beachfront bungalow and our hotel in Moorea doesn't have beachfront available for the dates we were supposed to be there. Our agent is checking on changing the order in which we visit the islands.

I'm glad to hear the snorkeling is so good. I bought 6 disposable underwater cameras yesterday. Yikes!!! (We're always searching for something that we haven't seen before, or rarely seen.) I've found they work pretty well on land, too, especially when I don't want to risk my good one. Since you aren't going until August, I'll make sure to do a good trip report!

Nanesa, I look forward to reading your report! I hope your agent can get you what you want. Six cameras should do it!
