We're staying 3 nights in a deep overwater bungalow at the Te Tiare in October - I was wondering if anyone had a speicifc bungalow recommendation. Also, was wondering how the transport to/from the resort to Fare worked out. How often does the boat go across & how long is the trip?

The transport work very good. It takes about 15 minutes to go from the resort to Fare and leaves the hotel on the top of the hour and departs Fare at the 1/2 hour. Or vice versa. Last transport is at 10:30 p.m.

We just returned from Te Tiare on Aug. 21st. Stayed in OWB # 40. This bungalow had a fair amount of privacy. The one that seems to have the most privacy is # 41, which is the last one on the end furthest from the main resort building. The snorkeling directly off the decks around these bungalows is great. Lots of coral formations & lots of fish. Enjoy!.

Another great spot to snorkel is near the dive platform in the lagoon between the OW restaurant and OW bunalows. Good coral heads. Saw dozens of varieties of fish. Also, if you toss some bread in the water from the restaurant or dock, you'd be amazed at the amount of fish that it attracts.

Thanks so much for the feedback! Does anyone have a list of "must-do's" on Huahine (other than snorkeling & getting away from the resort to visit Fare)? We'll be there for 3 days before heading to Bora Bora.

Huahine is a good place to do a 4x4 tour. You can rent a car and drive around both islands and have lunch on Huahine Iti. Can do a motu picnic and snorkel trip with Marc. Rent Jet Ski's

Thanks Pacific Andy! You sure know a lot about Tahiti & her Islands! How many times have you traveled there (or, do you live there)?

Who is Marc? I assume he has an excursion company of some sort. What's it called?

Thanks again - our trip will be 100x better thanks to the info on this message board!

theals, you will love Huahine and the Te Tiare. We were there in March 2002 and had the best vacation ever. We say that even though we just returned this last Sunday from a 2 week stint on Moorea and the PG cruise and had yet another memorable time in FP. Still, all things taken into consideration, we have to say that the stay at the Te Tiare was TOPS!!! You will not be disappointed. We stayed in a beach bungalow there and felt that the accommodation was the best for the buck (or XPF if you will). The snorkling was fine, the beach wonderful, staff 5 STAR, and Alain is the best manager you will find, a true gentleman and a caring manager to his staff. The eating places in Fare are fun and reasonably priced with good food and a wonderful way to experience the locals out and about. There is so much to learn about and to see on Huahine. You will love it!! Plus, the sunsets over Raitea and Tahaa'a (sorry if I've misspelled the names) are unbelieveable. Let us all know what you decide and how your trip goes for you please!
