Hi!

We'll be in Huahine for 3 days in May staying at the Te Tiare. I'm so excited after reading all the wonderful comments about this island.

I've read about this 3 in 1 excursion in other posts and wonder if anybody else has done this excursion? Is is through Huahine Nautique?

We'll either do this or the jet ski tour. If anyone has any experience with either tour, I would appreciate any more info. Thanks.

The 3 in 1 is pretty good deal but provides for a long day - The jet ski tour is much more expensive but is fun for the few hours. It all depends on what you want to do and see. Huahine Nautique is a good company and they do excellent work.

Thanks Pacific Andy for your thoughts.

I was thinking too, that the 3 in 1 would take a whole day and with only 3 days on Huahine we'll probably want to do some other things. I think the jet ski tour might be our best option.

I was also wondering if it is possible to visit the pearl farm on your own--(not as part of an organized excursion). If so, how would you get there? Is the Pearl farm really worth a visit?

Thanks for any advice!

The pearl farm is OK - The prices are good and yes you can go without a tour. They have a dock and you can call ahead or just wait for shuttle.
I also think you can request to go by on your JetSki tour.

I'll check and see if we can arrange a visit to the pearl farm on the jet ski tour (that would be great!)

Otherwise, we'll maybe try to get there on our own.

When you mentioned a shuttle, did you mean the pearl farm has a shuttle that will pick you up from the hotel or do I make arrangements through the hotel for a shuttle to the pearl farm? Thanks!

You should have no problem arranging to visit the pearl farm while on the jet ski tour. When you make reservations, be sure to let them know that's what you want to do.

The 3 in 1 includes a snorkeling stop, motu picnic & shark feeding - 9:30ish to 3:30ish

For the shuttle boat, it is located on the shore near the pearl farm (located in the middle of the lagoon).

I think the pearl farm is better than just OK. It's not as fancy as a resort boutique but they have some nice pieces at decent prices. They also have a nice selection of pottery that the owner produces.

Thanks for your comments GT. Have you done both the jet ski tour and the 3 in 1? If so, did you prefer one over the other?

I really wish we had more time to spend on Huahine, but I feel fortunate to be going there at all....we were only going to do Moorea and Bora Bora, but added Huahine after reading so many wonderful reviews and comments about this island.

Thank you for your help.

Wengar - if you have a limited time, I would suggest the 3 in 1 because this will give you a chance to do all three activities at a good price. The Jet Skis are an exciting way around the island but you'll probably have more chance to ride a jet ski elsewhere than watch sharks swim in the waters around you.

We were able to just do the shark feeding tour with Huahine. Other guests at the hotel (Relais Mahana) were picked up in the morning by boat and they went off for boat tour, motu picnic etc. They then came back for us on the way back at about 1pm, we were treated to a nice boat ride past the Te Tiare hotel for about 20 mins before geting onto a larger boat and heading out for shark feeding. The shark feeding was much better than in Bora Bora (bigger sharks and more of them) and the snorkelling afterwards amazing. We were then dropped back at Huahine Nautique and driven back to the hotel on Huahine Iti. It might be possible to do a similar thing at the Te Tiare. You might want to consider hiring a car in the morning and driving round the island and visiting the pearl farm. I would highly recommend Huahine Nautique, it was a fantastic afternoon.

Huahine Nautique is the only operator for the shark feeding on the island so the hotels book with them. Lat time I went with them, they had a boat pick us up from the Te Tiare.
