Quickie question/recommendation on the 4x4 tour: full day or half day?
We're on Huahine for a week, so we have time, but wasn't sure whether it was worth a full day version or not.
Thx.

We did a half day tour with Huahine Explorer and it was excellent, went round the island, up the mountain, stopped at the temples, eels, a vanilla farm. A half day was plenty for us as the ride up and down the mountain is pretty bumpy and you have to hold on tight and really I oly prefer half day tours so you have plenty of time to relax on the beach and snorkel. Huahine Explorer were great.

Huahine Explorer is a very good company-Ask for Daniel as your drive he is a great guy. A half day would be the way to go. A full day would get very long, hot and old. They hit all the good spots on the half day and the ride to the top of the mountain is great. If you need their contact info I have it.

I've done both with Huahine Eco Tours which was very well done. The full day included a stop at the Relais Mahana for lunch. The cost for lunch was not included in the tour.

Thanks for the info, just what I needed. Id - I don't mind the bumps... as an ex-Jeeper, I like that part. In fact, when I did the 4x4 on Moorea several years ago, I was impressed with where they took their 4x4 (to some spots I wouldn't). Of course, my wife isn't as nuts as me, so a full day of pounding may not appeal quite so much to her.
Half day it is.

The trip up to the top is a real wild ride but you can only go there with Huahine Explorer. If you get Daniel tell him Andy recommend you and you may get a free beer.
