We are heading out Sept 10 for five days in Huahine before a week at Club Bali Hai on Moorea and five days at Raimiti on Fakarava. We have stayed at Relais Mahana and Pension Maurii and this time are trying out Te Tiare in a garden bungalow. Do you know if there is air conditioning or can you get enough breeze? I don't like a/c and much prefer the open door policy.

Also wondering how often the boat goes back and forth. We had dinner there last time we were on Huahine (not staying there) and it seemed we waited a long time for the shuttle boat--and it was raining.

I can't remember if the boat pickup is near Fare or do you need a car or scooter to get there? I know we will be getting a scooter at least one day to get around the island and we loved the diving the last time we were there--wonder if we can fit it all in!!

Carol,

You'll love Te Tiare. Very nice place. I believe all the bungs have ac, but can for sure confirm the OWB & Beach ones do, since that's where we stayed.

Shuttle drops you just outside of Fare; it's a short walk there - no need for a vehicle.

I believe the shuttle runs basically once a hour; on the half hour each way. While waiting at Te Tiare you have the bar right by the dock, so you're in the shade. However, there's less shade on the Fare side waiting to return... a small covering on the dock. If you're early, you'll get shade; otherwise, you're better off waiting on the beach in the shade.

Sorry I don't have more details, but others here certainly will.

Enjoy!

BTW,

Raimiti is WONDERFUL!

It is truly the Robinson Crusoe experience & the best vacation I've ever had. We enjoyed Huahine more than most other islands because it was less crowded & seemed more authentic. Well, Raimiti takes this to a whole other level...

I'm very jealous!

Have a great trip.

Just returned from Tahiti and stayed at the Te Tiare. Had a wonderful trip. They celebrated the 4th of July with an amazing barbeque buffet. They even had fireworks! In answer to your questions, all bungalows have air conditioning & ceiling fans. The shuttle boat departs the transfer base in Fare every hour on the half and from the hotel every hour on the hour. The July issue of Conde Nast Traveller had a nice blurb about the hotel, too.

The Garden Bungalows have the same air conditioning as the beach and OTWs..........a unit in the sleeping area of the bungalows. I don't like a/c as a rule either but I appreciate the option in FP......bugs and lizards are less likely to find their way in at night when the windows and sliders are closed. I like to read at night before going to sleep and those bugs just love to fly around the lights!
The bungalows are huge and all have the same floor plan except the bathrooms in the OTWs have a tub with jacuzzi jets. Are you staying in a standard or premium bungalow? The premiums are just across the path from the beach bungalows and might offer more of a breeze. The standards are set further back against the hill and I think that the chance of getting the breeze blowing through your bungalow might be reduced. There are ceiling fans though.
Gitbox_dan is correct...the transfet boat runs every hour. The transfer dock in Fare is only a very short walk from the supermarche, restaurants, roulottes, and shops. There is cover at the transfer station out of the rain and shade from the sun unless there are alot of folks waiting (we've never experienced a crowd). If there is, then you have coverage on the beach....shouldn't be a problem.
Anymore questions, please ask!!! We love Huahine and can't wait to get back......and to stay at the Te Tiare. You will love the staff and the hotel, I promise!

Its an excellent choice for Tahiti. Its one of the only hotels in Tahiti that you really get the Tahitian hospitlity feel. Its great. The rooms are not all the rage as the new hotels in Bora Bora but very comfortable and they have everything you will need. For me its like going home.

I love reading all this as we will be at Te Tiare in Nov. of this year. After BB with 2 newbies, it will be just what the doctor ordered.

In addition to the A/C units in Te Tiare rooms, they also have the best design of the 4 resorts where we stayed on our honeymoon in that the sliding doors also have sliding screen doors. In other resorts, the windows have shutters or no screens so they are either open (for bugs too) or closed. Enjoy the breeze!!
