Does anyone remember how deep the water is around the OWB at Manihi PB? Is it shallow enough to stand on the bottom?

It was thigh deep at the ladder and went to went to chest deep about 10 yards out and fell rapidly from there. You are right on top of a lot of coral and fish. My wife, who is afraid of the water actually got in put on a mask and got in up to her chest. An amazing thing for someone who doesn't normally get her ankles wet at the beach!

Didn't go on the other side. The Premiums are the newest units on the left as you stand on the shore. There are fewer of them and they are further apart than the older units. They premiums are also further out in the lagoon. We never went over to the other side. We were having way too much fun right where we were.

dreamin', For budget reasons, we're staying in the Beach Bungalows except for the last night for which we decided to splurge on an OWB (regular, not premium). Did you by any chance get to see the Beach Bungalows? We have always travelled with our kids (ages 9 and 11). Did you see other kids there? We are all looking forward to a relaxing vacation in Manihi next August!

Can't help you with the beach bungalow on Manihi. We stayed in beach units on Bora Bora and Tikehau. Both were different and both were wonderful. I'm sure you'll be fine. As to children I only saw them on Tikehau. A pair of French brothers bought their entire families with choldren about that age. They looked loke they were having fun. Oh, there was that other Frenchman on Bora Bora who brought his wife, college age children and his mistress!?! Very continental!

The beach bungalows were very nice. The bathroom was partially indoor/outdoor but private. There was also another door that opened up outside - nice way to keep the sand out of the living area. The rooms were comfortable with a double bed and sofa. Sliding glass doors open up to a deck that faces the lagoon. A must do is the motu picnic. You'll fish for your lunch. Regarding the OW bungalows - saw a wide variety of fish.

Thanks to everyone - this forum has provided us with great info as well as an insight of what we'll be experiencing in 136 days. Does anyone recall how much were the motu picnics per person? That's one thing my kids can't wait to do. 'dreamin - I told my husband not to even think about taking his mistress!

I think the cost was about $60.00 per person (adult). The picnic was outstanding. In addition to the freshly caught fish, there was barbequed chicken and a variety of salads. A wonderful memory.

We were there at the beginning of February; motu picnic was 7500 CFP. You stop on your way out to the motu and catch your own fish for lunch, which my husband particularly enjoyed. Lots of kids when we were there: seemed like it was the French holidays.
