Hi !! We are brand new to this board, and what a great site! I wish we had found it earlier. We are going on our honeymoon in May of this year. We are doing a week in Letahaa in a beach bungalow (with plunge pool) and then a week in Bora Bora Nui in a OWB. It seems like i read a few threads of people advising to do Le Tahaa last, but Im not sure why. Is ist just that people have the opinion of "save the best for last", or is it for other reasons? We booked Le Tahaa first because we just assume go to the most beautiful and peaceful place first, to kick off the honeymoon...After all the stress of wedding planning, we thought Tahaa would be the most peaceful, and the most romantic. We have to decide quick, if we would like to many any changes to our vacation, so I would soooo love to hear all your comments, especially reasons why or why not to do Le Tahaa first or last...Also, any personal experiences, or advice about why to stay at one before the other, or even advice about room numbers would be great. Thank you so much!!

Well, in your case, I would keep the schedule you have setup. You are staying at two very nice places and would be a tough pick to say if the Nui was better than Tahaa. Le Tahaa is a great place to start off and just relax from all the wedding stress. There are not as many activities on this island and it will allow you time to recover from the jetlag.

I agree that going to Tahaa to relax is the right thing. You can be more active in Bora Bora once you are rested.

Not having been to either yet, but from my perusing experience on this board over a year, it seems the main reason people said to do tahaa last was because of how amazing the resort is, they felt that they were a little bit "let down" as they moved on in their trip. basically it was a save the best for last issue. I remember that one of the posters it was specifically s/he went to tahaa first and then on to the nui, absolutely loved both but wished s/he had done tahaa last because it would have been the best note to end on. hth.

Having done almost the same exact itinerary (I didn't have enough vaycay time for 2 weeks- I'm jealous!), we did 5 nights at Le Taha'a in the beach villa first then did 4 nights at the Nui in the horizon OWB. Personally, I was very disappointed in the Nui after our stay at Taha'a (perhaps Tirsabel was referring to me? LOL). Don't get me wrong, the Nui was fabulous, but I really liked the remoteness of Le Taha'a, the awesome bungalows, the peaceful nature of the resort, and the way the resort just made sure everything was just so- it just all folded together perfectly. Of course, what I think is perfect is far from what someone else may think it perfect, but Le Taha'as "sexy exotic luxury" far outweighed the more opulent luxury of the Nui in my eyes. My husband slightly disagrees, mostly because he's a more active person, but we always talk about going back to Le Taha'a and only seldomly talk about returning to Bora Bora. IMHO, it was a "save the best for last" thing.
Let me know if you have any questions or want to pick my brain about it

I went to Tahaa last and stayed in a beach bungalow. Frankly, it would have been fine if we did the OWB at the Motu last since they were completely different experiences. I did miss jumping off into the Bora Bora lagoon from our bungalow deck. However, the beach bungalows at Le Tahaa are just fantastic. If you plan on going to the spa at Tahaa, you will enjoy it more if that is your first stop. I went to their spa on my last day and didn't really enjoy it cause at the end of my honeymoon, there wasn't a single knot left in my body.
The pros of doing Tahaa last is that it is arguably one of the best resorts in the FP. From decor, ambiance, service, it is all top notch.

I heard the same as you have. My TA finally convinced us to do Tahaa last. Not sure if it is that big of a deal but felt like between our TA and Jells, I should respect their opinions. So we are doig Huahine, Bora Bora and then Tahaa. The other reason is that on our first trip we did Bora Bora first then Moorea. I remember that at the time I felt we should have done Bora Bora (the best) last. Bearing that in mind, combined with more experienced advice, we decided to Tahaa (supposed to be the best) last this time.

Welcome to the forum halfpint51.
Interesting points of view, IMO it really depends on your personal preference as to which order is best. But I must admit under any circumstances it’s really splitting hairs as to which place to go first (i.e. both places are knock outs for sure).
With that said, I’ll give you some food for thought:
For my family (people who put a premium on close access to excellent snorkeling/swimming from the hotel or OWB) Le Taha'a was second to the hotels we stayed in on Bora Bora and Moorea. So we were glad to have visited Le Taha'a first.
However, for honeymooners like yourself, I also think you have it planned perfectly; you will arrive at Le Taha'a, one of the most beautiful hotels on the planet, to relax and kick back after a long trip and a hectic wedding. This is one hotel you really don't want to leave while you're there (kind of a destination type place that is totally self-contained).
You will thoroughly enjoy the romantic feeling of Le Taha’a and you'll be simply blown away by the comfort, spaciousness and luxury of your Beach Bungalow (made for honeymooners). After a week at Le Taha’a you’ll be totally relaxed, completely intoxicated by F.P. and ready for some more outgoing activities.
Then you arrive on Bora Bora and begin a more active part of your honeymoon. You can experience some of the excellent water related activities (all can be arranged right from your hotel) while indulging yourself in the most beautiful lagoon in the world.
You can then explore the main Island, do some shopping in the many stores and markets and also enjoy some of the great restaurants and eateries on the main Island. The Nui is a great hotel, it’s very upscale, has killer OWB’s, and will meet the highest level of expectation for a F.P. hotel. I loved the Beach Bungalows at Le Taha'a but IMO the OWB is the essence of F.P. so it's great that you'll finish your trip in that level of accommodation.
All in all, I think your trip will be perfect for a first time visit/honeymoon to F.P. and I wouldn't change a thing.
Trust me, no worries as you're in for a trip of a lifetime and a honeymoon that will live in your hearts forever

So long story short, for our fast-approaching August honeymoon, my fiancee and I ended up with an extra 2.5 days in FP due to beneficial rerouting of flights, and are looking for an extra island stop while in FP.
We've got 5 days booked on Moorea (Sheraton), and 5 days booked on Bora Bora (currently at the Nui, although I think we'll probably switch to the St. Regis depending on how the first trip reports come back)...
I'm kind of intrigued by Le Taha'a based on this thread (although we were originally turned off because friends of ours didn't really enjoy the hotel / stay as much as their time at Le Meridien in BB)... I think I'd be open to giving it a shot, but have a couple of questions:
1) For what will basically amount to 2 days, would you go to Taha'a, or would you recommend Rangiroa, Huahine or some other island? (I think we have a preference for the Society islands, due to short timeframe / long flights out to, e.g., Manihi, etc.) 2) We are going to Moorea first, then BB. For two days vs. 5 and 5, what's a good order to do that? Assuming Moorea should be first? From what I gather, sounds like Moorea and BB are the more "active" islands?
