I read recently that this resort upgraded their bungalows. Has anyone been to this hotel in the last few months. Any feed back on quality of accomodations, food, service, and activites would be appreciated We are looking for lots of quiet, and a get away from it all experience. I am also a diver and any info on diving on Tahaa and Raiatea would be appreciated. Thanks

We visited Vahine in April of 2002 staying in a beach bungalow and found everything to be excellent. Only go if you truly want to get away from the crowds.

There are only 9 bungalows, 6 beach and 3 OW. The beach ones sit right on the edge of lagoon and face Bora Bora in the distance. The OWB face Tahaa. Thay are made completely of natural wood. There is no AC but we found you didn't need it. The beach bungalows don't have doors. The walls slide open instead and they have fans and a small 'fridge.

There are coral gardens stretching right out in front of your bungalow and being a novice snorkeler I found the convenience and quality to be fantastic. You can take the hotel motor boat or canoe to any of the other uninhabited motus that are nearby.

The food is fantastic! They ask what you don't like upon your arrival so there is no chance of getting served something you don't eat. Dinners are three course meals every night. You find a menu of what's being served at your table each evening. Lunch and breakfast served every day from a set menu. I kept all the menus and would be happy to send them to you if you send me your address as well as answer any other questions you might have. I'm at jnthomas@att.net

hey there, this is the first time I've read of anyone other than myself mentioning Vahine island on this forum (or maybe I'm just a bit blind). We're off to BB on the 18th for 4 nights and then Vahine island for 8 more nights, I read the food is spectacular and that it really is a place to get away from it all. I think we chose it for that. Yes, I also read that all their bungalows were upgraded last year and they now have some slightly more fancy beach bungalows that are huge. Lookswise I thought their OWB were a bit basic compared to other OWB in FP so hopefully I'll like those anyway, I really do like the intimate setting with only 9 bungalows on the whole motu, I think's that way cool. Hope you get there and that you have a great time. Don't forget to make use of their stay 4, pay 3 nights low season special, fantastic deal.

Hi there JNT,
We're going to Vahine island next week and you offered to send someone else some menus that you kept when you stayed there in 2002. I'm assuming you meant that you would send them vial email. If so, is there any possiblity that you might email them to me as well??? Please, pretty please.

I'm a real foodie and very fussy so any idea of the kind of meals available there would be so great.

If you were going to send them via snail mail, don't worry since I'm in Oz and they wouldn't arrive here in time for my departure on Saturday.

Either way, thanks so much. I so love finding out all this information about tahiti from people who've been there.

We just returned from Vahine Island Moorea and Bora Bora. 4 nights each Island and 1 night Tahiti. We loved Vahine Island Sylvie and Staff are very nice and friendly. The food is still very gourmet and very yummy.Hopefully we will return someday.

When we arrived in Raiatia airport we had to wait for the boat we were thinking they might of forgotten us.But no, they were doing a stock run and were just running late. It's about a 30min boat ride to Vahine from the airport with beautiful views of Tahaa and the water of course.
When we were finished checking in we were informed that we were the only couple on the Island for that night. How romatic and private is that.( We were celebrating our 20th Anniversary.)
The 2nd & 3rd nights there were 2 other couples there and the last night a total of 10 people. We never saw the 4 other people after they checked in.
There is nothing to do on this Island as far as night life. They have DVD's you can borrow. But other than that it's sit back and relax. We stayed in Fare #2. It was lovely we slept with the doors and windows open(only ceiling fan no A/C) and moscito(SPELLING is not for me ha ha) netting over the bed. There are no screens on the doors or windows.
During the day they have a wind board?, kayak, piroes, snorekiling gear, hobie cat, and motor boats you can use for free. The internet access is also free. Also if you want fruit they have it in the bar area for you to take whenever you want. The snokeling was good we saw a 2 1/2 foot black tip ,lots of fish and a turtle.
The staff is very ,very nice. Like I said before the food is incredible.Very good.
If any one has any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
Oh you can also do paid activities on the Island. We didn't do any. But they are availalbe.
I would reccommend this Island to people that want to relax and
be out in the middle of nowhere. So to speak. There is no spa(which is fine with us). We would return in a heartbeat.
