We're spending 4 nights at Le Tahaa and I figured since we were doing 4 nights at the Sofitel Motu in Bora Bora in an OWB I would break the stay up at Le Tahaa and have 2 nights in a Beach Bung. and 2 in the Sunset view OWB. I've read several people say how wonderful the Beach Bung. is and they either don't regret not booking an OWB or they changed their minds and opted to stay in the beach bung.

I'm starting to think of just staying in the Beach Bungalow but need some more convincing ... so what (if any) reasons would there be to move. I've heard the snorkeling is non-existent from the OWBs and they're smaller and no plunge pool either! Any thoughts?

We were one of the couples that couldn't decide either. I kept going back and forth and finally decided that we'd split our time- 3 nights in a beach suite and 2 nights in a sunset OWB. Once we got there, though, we couldn't leave our beach suite behind. It was truly perfect, with our private plunge pool and outdoor bathtub and the magnificent view off of our back deck (suite #51). Honestly, with only 4 nights total at Le Taha'a, I wouldn't even bother trying to switch rooms. You are just going to be getting there and then you'll have to move again. After our trip, I wouldn't suggest switching accomodations anywhere unless you are staying more than 8 nights in one place.
As far as what you are missing, I think the beach suites are just about the same size, if not bigger than the OWBs, you definintely do not have great snorkeling in the OWBs, and the only thing the OWBs have that the beach suites don't is the "window" on the floor looking into the water and direct access to the lagoon. Personally, it wasn't that much more difficult to just walk the 50 ft into the lagoon from our beach suite than it would be to just step down into the lagoon. Also, you probably do get more of a glimpse of the sunset (hence the name)in the OWBs, but if you want to really see the sunset, just step outside of your beach suite onto the beach or walk out to the end of the dock at the resort to get a good glimpse. I would NEVER EVER give up our time in our beach suite for anything and it was worth losing the extra money we spent to upgrade half way through to stay in our perfect little paradise. I have pics, too, if you want to see them. Just let me know!

Both are excellent and you should at least stay in OW during your stay. The Tahaa Beach Bungalows are one of the best in FP.

Hi vynaca,

We also spent 4 nights in an OWB at the Sofitel Motu and then 5 nights in a Beach Villa at Le Taha'a and I would not change a thing. I debated over the same thing and really wanted to split the time between the 2, but my TA talked me out of it and I am glad. The beach villa was the most amazing room and I don't think you're missing out by not staying in an OW if you are already doing it in BB.

We chose the OWB on Taha'a and it was fabulous. However, we toured the beach suites and they are magnificent as well. The Beach Suites have the sitting room and the plunge pool, and are slightly larger. The OWBs have a two-tiered large deck area with breakfast nook and outdoor shower, and a large glass bench at the end of the bed to feed the fish that come at night when your underwater light is turned on, and there is another glass window along the soaking tub.
The water is crystal clear there, so no snorkeling, which I prefered because that way it was easy and safe to dive right in and swim around a few times a day.
Both choices are wonderful, and PB Taha'a is regarded as having the best OWB & best beach bungalows in FP---so you can't go wrong. My husband and I want to return, and would select the OWB again, and personally I would choose OWB at all my resorts if cost isn't a factor, because it is such a unqiue experience, but given that you are staying in an OWB on Bora Bora and you seem to want some variety I am certain you will be thrilled with the beach bungalow at Taha'a PB. And I definitely suggest choosing one and sticking to it.

Thanks to everyone for your input. Jells, it was your report I read that actually made me start wondering if I would want to stay put in the Beach Bungalow. You've sent me pics already ... I think I asked you either here or the Knot and they are gorgeous. I think I've made up my mind to stay in the beach bungalow and hopefully we can get #51 since it really does have a great view from the front!

Good luck! If you can, request #50-52. All of them have a great view IMO. Plus, they are really secluded and perfect for that intimate swim or bath \:\)

Glad you liked my pics BTW. I can never remember who I sent them to!

My question is, if you do pick a Sunset OWB, which room # is best?

I have been looking ALL OVER for that info on this forum and cannot find anything.

My husband and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary in May 2005. We are going to to do 2 nights IC Tahiti, 3 nights at the Nui, 4 nights at the Sheratan Moorea and 3 nights at the Le Tahaa. It stinks that it is so far away but good since we need to save up $$$! \:\)

Best options for the Sunset OWB:
#41,#42,#43
They are all great, but those are the best in order of preference.

Hi hc11238 - Here is a picture of the layout from Le Tahaa's website.

The best sunset views I hear are the ones ilovepac mentioned and they're at the end of row G in the pic.
