Vahine supplies you with an electric pot for heating water. The In-room coffee is instant. The restaurant serves real coffee and espresso.
As far as transfers go, if you go on the boat when the resort is running their errands to the Raiatea(including the airport) or Tahaa there is no charge. You are just on their schedule of arrivals and departures. There is no charge to meet up with a planned excursion either.
The only time you would get charged is if you ask to go at a time when the boat would not be going anywhere. Don't know the cost but I think it's on their website.

Jonathan, In a previous post you mentioned that the water at Vahine Island is very shallow. Is it too shallow to enjoy good snorkelng and are there areas nearby that you can swim to for better snorkeling? Also, how was the temperature in the bungalows without A/C?

The temperature can be controlled somewhat. The Beach bungalows all have good shade and a ceiling fan. The deluxe bungalows have two fans. In addition you are right on the water so there is a slight breeze all the time. We found that we were never uncomforably warm at any time.
Being novice snorkelers we found the water depth to be just right for us. There is a very extensive coral garden right in front of the beach bungalows with good variety of fish, nothing huge in size. Because of the depth they are mostly the brightly colored varieties. We have seen mantas, octopi, eels, and other things too strange to recognize. You can move around pretty easily between the coral beds even thought there is a pretty good current at work. We use the current by going to one side of the motu and floating to the other side between the coral beds.
The staff can assist you in finding other areas to snorkel away form the resort motu.

Thanks, Jonathan. Up in the air about Vahine Island vs. Le Taha'a. A/C is one of the things that has me hesitating. Even though I am from South Florida and can tolerate a ton of heat and humidity during the day I like it cool to sleep. We would stay in an OWB at Vahine if we went and I assume that would keep it a little cooler at night. I know they are closing for renovations this year so don't know if any plans to add A/C. Also love to snorkel and will likely take an excursion to the coral gardens by Le Taha'a if we don't stay there.

Oh wow, that is very early planning...I am staying at Vahine on May 31st for 3 nights in a beach bungalow so I would be happy to review it for you when I get back. I chose Vahine over Le Tahaa because it would have cost be 3 times as much to stay at Le Tahaa...plus, there is something very romantic about a hotel with only 9 rooms. I was a little worried about the lack of AC but I've read some reviews and most people didnt have a problem. I'm originally from Wisconsin so if there is anyone who cant stand heat and humidity, its me.

I would be very interested to hear about your stay FP. I also like the idea of a small, intimate resort.
