FWIW - We witnessed a wedding ceremony from our Bora Bora OWB while we were staying at Le Taha’a. The bride and groom were a few OWB's down from us and the wedding site was in direct view of our unit.
It basically entailed two flowered outriggers (one for the bride and one for the groom) that were paddled to their OWB, then each outrigger proceeded to paddle across the lagoon to a small motu (the wedding site) that sits just in front of the hotel pool area. Once they reached the motu (about a 10 min trip) the bride and groom were then escorted to the alter and the wedding ceremony was preformed in a typical Polynesian fashion (lots of drum music, flowers and fan fair).
From start to finish the whole wedding took about an hour and it looked like the couple was having a blast (all smiles as they cruised by).
The hotel goes to great length to keep the ceremony private. They send out notices to all the guest rooms asking that people respect the privacy of the wedding couple by not getting to close to the motu site while the ceremony was taking place.
If you like I can send a few pictures I snapped of the outriggers as they passed by our OWB.
