We chartered a sail boat for 8 nights and spent 4 night in the lagoon around Tahaa because we enjoyed the beautiful island and it's people so much. My favorite encounters:

Oops, I hit enter button prematurely, anyways: 1) Lunch at The Taravana Yacht Club (formely Marina Iti) The open air restaurant was beautiful and the food was delicious (the sashimi was the best we had any where in FP) The new owner/manager was a young man named Maui and he was very helpful and friendly. 2)The 4X4 island tour with Vanilla Tours. Alain, the owner/guide, is extremely knowledgable about the island and its flora. His love of the island he adopted 22 years ago is very evident. He only does private groups and does not cater to the cruise ship industry so your tour will be small and personal. The view from the top of the island are incredilble and the details of the vanilla bean are amazing. 3) Dinner at Chez Louise. The setting is quaint but beautiful. The seafood feast was very good. The night we were there it included poisson cru, shrimp, slipper lobster and tuna, rice, baguettes and vanilla ice cream to die for! Louise is quite a charactor and unless you are stuffy food snob you will enjoy some great laughs and very good food. 4) The people were very helpful. While provisioning in Patio we were attemting to carry the necessary 2 cases of Hinano and 3 six packs of water when one of the local men motioned to us that he would give us a ride to the dinghy dock. We did not speak the same language, but we definitely shared the common pleasure of a cold Hinano and he seemed to be very happy with himself to have been able to help us. We thanked him with a Hinano for his efforts!
