Thanks Gary! Unfortunately, we're checking out on Saturday and will miss the awesome seafood buffet. Your pics made me hungry! But, you've definitely given my "food for thought" about room service. It sounds like a no brainer for us.

On a different note, can you tell me who did your tattoo? You got it on Bora Bora, right? My future husband saw it and is now seriously considering getting one similar to yours. I must say, it is really, really cool.

Thanks for sharing those pictures...Tahaa looks amazing! Staying in a beach villa there...we can't wait! We also won't be there for the seafood buffet as we check in on a Monday and leave on a Thursday - oh well!

Gary, I have a question about something you relayed in your earlier post.. did you find that by being on the meal plan at Le Taha'a you were able to purchase menu items through their room service that cost you 50% LESS than if you had ordered the same item (i.e., lobster) without being on the plan? My TA is telling me that she has not experienced much of a price savings by being on the plan vs. "paying as you go", but it sounds like your experience was significantly better in this regard? Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Not meaning to beat this topic to death, but we are still trying to decide if one or both of us should take the board plan, so let me ask it this way: What are the portion sizes like when you order from the restaurants (i.e., the set 3-course meals) at Le Taha'a? My sweetie and I tend to share a plate when dining out, except at fancier, "haute cuisine" places where the servings are more reasonably sized than the typical American "Mc Superize Me" proportions.. so we are thinking, get one board plan for most days, and just order extra off the menu to sample or if we're starving.. or is the food so fantastic, we're gonna wanna gorge? Suggestions, anyone? Thanks, all!

Quinceymom, Fati did my tattoo. His e-mail is
fatitattoo@hotmail.com
We made an appointment via e-mail before we left.
Jchip, The price comparison that I made was between what we prepaid for the meal plan versus the actual prices written on the room service menu. It was a BIG difference with the meals we ordered. Basically just stick with the breakfast and dinner half board option for both of you (and do the creative late breakfast, take some cheese and fruit etc back for lunch and then you'll be ready for dinner - as QuincyMom has stated). The portion sizes are not your Supersize me nor are they the little specs upon a huge plate. We thought the meals were just average size (and since we weren't really having lunch we could easily eat the three courses provided at dinner). Since there really aren't any local shops or supermarkets that are closeby (not like there are in Bora Bora) we would recommend the half board meal plan for each of you. Hope this helps.

Many thanks, Gary.. very helpful to know. So, have any menu recommendations in addition to the lobster salad?

Gary, thanks so much for your info. I found a few other threads that went into great detail about tattoos on Bora Bora, including a number of yours. I'm not sure my honey is going to do it, as Bora Bora is not our last stop and he hates the idea of not being able to be in the water after it.

And jchip, I think we're going for the half board option at Le Taha'a. We figure we'll hit the breakfast buffet on the late side and then order room service for dinners. I'm going to throw a few travel candles in my bag (the ones with lids) so that we can eat by candlelight in our OWB. Hope you're keeping warm over there. We're freezing out here!

Hey QMom - we are leaning the same way (half board), as we know we want to sample most of the menu. And yes, MI is cold & snowy now, after temps in the 40's all December. We were in your 'hood back in August (stayed in Nob Hill Inn), had a grand time.. can't wait to get back to dine again at Faralon.. and Rubicon, where the executive chef is a friend of friends.. you should try them, if you haven't yet! :-q
