We'll be in FP in April and on our way back to the US we'll need to spend about 7 hours on Tahiti (from 6:00 PM until our Air NZ flight departs at 1:00 AM). any thoughts on how to spend the time? Can we leave our bags at the airport and grab dinner somewhere?

There is a place on the parking lot of the airport where you can leave your luggage - I have no idea what the opening times are.
Go to the waterfront in downtown Papeete and eat at the roulottes.

Does anyone know what time the marketplace closes? We have about 6 hours to kill before we catch our flight back to Los Angeles. Our flight from BB will get in about 4 I think. Don't the markets close at 6? (Not on a Sunday)Any information you can offer would help. Thank you.

Grab dinner at the Sheraton. The bouillabaisse was incredible and comes in the largest soup bowl I have ever seen

when we were in Papeete on a Friday, most of the shops were closing at 5. There are bars still open late though, and you could taxi or Le truck to a restaurant or resort for a dinner/show.

The stores close around 5PM so most shops will be closed when you arrive back in Papeete. The storage facilities at the airport should be open at at that time, so you can store your luggage there. You could then catch a cab and have dinner in downtown Papeete. You could also get a "day" room (valid for about 6 hours upon check-in) at one of the hotels near the airport (i.e., Sheraton, Beachcomber, Sofitel). Have dinner at the hotel, rest up, and then take a cab back to the airport in time to catch your int'l flight.
