if you had the 5 hours to spend before check in? Not sure this trip is going to happen in Feb but just say that it does. Would you go to Le Coco's (don't need to spend heaps on a fancy meal but good quality counts as always) or to the old stand-by Lou Pescadou's? Haven't been to Le Belvedere but from some postings, am not sure it is worth the trip (do they still come to get you at the airport?). Know where to stash the bags at the airport from Hamara....now need to find a reasonably priced place for dinner. Am thinking that Lou's might do but am open to suggestions.

After you check in your luggage in the storage room and if the weather is great walk across the parking lot and go up the steps to the road. take the truck into Papeete and do the roulottes on the waterfront. Have a meal of your choice and enjoy Papeete's clean new waterfront. Coco's is one of Tahiti's best restaurants but you can go to a four or five star restaurant at home.Have a great trip to Paradise. I'm 30 days away and counting down the days until we return from the GREY Northwest.

We enjoyed the roulettes when we were there in august and found the new waterfront very nice! We wanted to try something different this time and figured this was the forum to obtain recommmendations from those who have tried some of Tahiti's places recently.Someday we are going to meet Hamara, Pacific Andy, BarbiJKM and thank you in person for the valuable info you've imparted over the years. Another question, does anyone know where the Radisson is building their new hotel? Heard it was going up at Lafeyette Beach but haven't a clue where that is located.

I'd dine at the roulottes, hands down.

Depending on day of the week, you might be able to take in a Tahitian dance show at one of the big hotels, then go hang out at the airport until your flight goes. You can either eat first at a roulotte and get to the hotel by 7:30 to see the show from the bar or have the hotel buffet-some are quite expensive though.

Brooke: The new Raddison at Lafeyette Beach is just below the old Tahara Hotel. The hotel was the first big hotel in Tahiti that was build down the side of the hill. The elavators went down instead of up. It's in the Arue section east of Papeete. It's a grerat location with black sand beaches.

Where to eat:
I agree with all that say the roulottes. However, if that doesn't appeal for whatever reason, try walking up from the roulottes 2 blocks to Rue Collette -- and "SNACK JIMMY'S" Which is really not a snack place. It is a delightful Chinese, Thai,Vietnamese restaurant run by a lovely Canadian woman. The food is exceptional and reasonably priced. They will fix anything you want, but the menu is lengthy. Tablecloths on the table, candles at night.
I particularly recommend the Poisson Cru Chinoise, Vietnamese raviolis, Thai curries fixed howver you want. Super food and service. And reasonable.
Although I do not particularly consider this a reco: Chirac ate here when last in FP. Pourquoi? Because of the food--and all the gov't. officials eat here because it is so good. Perhaps I should not have disclosed this!! But you cannot go wrong here--and it is right up from the harbor.
