Are they air-conditioned? According to the website they don't seem to be. Also, do you need converters/adapters for hair dryers, curling irons, etc? Thanks.

If you stay for a few nights upgrade to a Panaramic room - Very large and nice - All rooms have AC and Hair Dryers - You will need an adaptor if you are bringing your own.

They have a 110 outlet with an american style plug in the bathrooms but it's mainly for shavers and coffe makers so I don't think it will push a hairdryer. A/C works great in all the bungalows!

Thanks, I was referring to the OW bungalows only, as that's what we are most interested in.

OW Bungalow is a/c in the main bedroom. The bathroom is not a/c. It is possible to leave the door open into the bathroom, but you really just siphon cool air off the bedroom and make the whole bungalow warmer. The only part of the bathroom that really is warm is the part with the tub and toilet. The vanity part with the sink stays relatively cool.
We loved the Beachcomber in Tahiti. The O/W Bungalow was beautiful. The property was picture perfect. The staff was incredibly friendly. The happy hour drinks were reasonably priced and creative. The restaurant was relatively reasonably priced (food is very expensive in FP, especially for an American traveling with dollars). The pool with its infinity edge, waterfall, and sloping entrance was refreshing.
It's just a great property. We both said that even though we booked it for one night to crash pre-cruise, we wished we had more time there. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. They also offer some great rates. It seems to me that we paid somewhere between $250 last March for a night in an OWB.

Thanks, I'm gathering info for my daughter and her future husband who will be honeymooning in Dec., and staying two nights post-cruise at the Beachcomber. Would anyone know their policy regarding late check-out or day room availability for departure day, as they will have an evening flight? Thanks.

We inquired last year (Jan 2003) about a dayroom rate and were told that the BC did not offer dayroom rates; it was full rate. For a garden view room then that was about $220 with transfers to and from the airport.
If you get the Six Continents club card ($150 and recently renamed to the Ambassador's Club or somesuch-- there are other posts on this on the board), you can get a free late check out that lets you stay in the room until 4 pm.

A little off the main topic, but same hotel...
I will be arriving around 10pm on ATN. My TA told me it would cost less for 2 of us to take a cab at the airport than to use the transfers she can get for us. Is this accurate? Also, will there be many cabs waiting at the airport at that time? I would assume so since there is an international flight arriving and this is where they make their money. However, after a full day of travel, I don't want there to be a doubt in my mind... only thoughts of paradise!
Thanks as always!

What hotel are you going to? Usually the cabs at night are much more expensive than a transport but if your going to the Sheraton or even the Beachcomber it maybe cheaper - Figure the transport would be about $30 per person and a cab would be $35 for both max. And yes there are a lot of cab in front of the airport to take you anywhere.

Just returned yesterday: Cab is about $17 and transfer with Marama Tours was $15 USD. I think cabs charge for luggage and stuff too? Marama is nice. We needed a couple of extra rides from the Moorea ferry to the Beachcomber and they were there to meet us and it was less than a cab.
