NYCC.. thanks, we'll be sending you good vibes! We're booked in (we hope!) the premium sunset OWB (#41) April 15-21.. we don't care that much about what the weather does (checking the reports is futile at best - you really shouldn't sweat it), as we are not "sunning bunnies" anyway, but we are looking forward to relaxing in the lap of luxury.. so please tell us what our place looks like, if only from the outside! When we first read QuincyMom's post, we had visions of construction cranes and supply barges cruising the lagoon floating in our heads.. :-p

p.s. Native NY'er myself.. born/bred upstate, some years in eastern LI.. love the city!

We just booked our stay at Taha'a and all for this summer and the only thing they have available is the Taha'a OWB. I was pretty bummed about this because we liked the idea of either having a Bora Bora or a Sunset OWB. We decided we didn't want to do the Beach villa since we wanted to stay with the OWB experience.

I thought it was interesting that all the Sunsets and Bora Bora's are sold out already- I know it is high season, but I almost wonder if they are not opening them up just in case of problems with the renovations..ie not being ready??

I saw some reports on Taha'a OWB, and still don't know exactly what to request. I have read 15-19 are nice any other comments?

When we booked in December, there were precisely two bungalows to choose from-- a Bora Bora owb and a beach villa. If they were "reserving" against renovations not being completed, they showed some forethought. Also (I think I just replied to you on the other Tahaa thread), I'd say to keep checking. When our agent checked this week, there were two room types open: Bora Bora and Tahaa (no villa or Sunset). If you're working with an agent who works with a packager, make sure the agent is checking outside of the packagers pool of rooms (those can sell out when the hotel still has open rooms). I think they're just THAT popular and that busy, but it also couldn't hurt to email the hotel and check for availability. If it really matters, I'd ask about a waiting list and if you can be put on it.

We actually wanted the Tahaa-- it was 1K cheaper (so about$250/night less?) when we booked and I preferred the idea of looking at Tahaa. I'm still not sure what-- other than a few small perks like champagne and petit fours-- you get with the Bora Bora owb. A slightly different view, yes... but is it worth the $$$? Too bad we can't trade!
