With Le Tahaa having one-third of its bungalows closed during our trip in April I need a recommendation on whether to go with the Bora Bora or Tahaa OWB. I had originally decided on the Sunset but they will all be closed for renovation when we are there. There is a $1,000 difference (for 4 nights) between the Bora Bora and Tahaa bungalows. We had chosen the sunset for the unobstructed views. My questions is: is it worth $1,00 to upgrade from Tahaa to Bora Bora?

This topic has been debated by Le Taha'a visitors previously in this thread.. seems a lot just depends on your personal preferences for a view, i.e. mostly open lagoon and Taha'a island vs. Bora. I do recall some Bora-view folks complaining that it was an obstructed view at best, and not worth the extra $$ in their opinion. Btw, what are your travel dates? We go in April too, and are concerned about the closures, although have received some indirect assurances (can't get the resort reservations staff to respond to e-mail) that all should be okay..

Hi,

I've been in touch with the resort staff via email this past week. They always get back to me right away. I was booked in a beach villa...but they gave me free upgrade to a Bora Bora OWB due to the renovations. I leave tomorrow!!! Not arriving to Tahaa until March 12th though. I'll report back as soon as I return what it's like there at Le Taha'a with the renovations and stuff. I hope it's not a problem.
Try telling the resort you had your heart set on a beach villa and maybe they will just give you the free upgrade to Bora BOra OWB like I received....good luck!

NYCchic ... BON VOYAGE! I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon. There are many of us that will anxiously await your return for your detailed trip report. Please take copious notes in between cocktails!

Seattle2, it is my understanding that the folks staying in the Bora Bora OWBs get a few little extras built in to their room rate, such as a "VIP welcome," so it's not just the view of Bora Bora you're paying the extra $1k for. I have also heard that these OWBs can be a little windy as they are sitting right in front of the pass (from which you view Bora Bora).

In my humble opinion, if you can't get the free upgrade as NYCchic suggests, then $1,000 goes a long way towards spa treatments, a sunset cruise, etc. Good luck!

NYCChic - best wishes for a wonderful trip! I know you must be going crazy making last minute preparations, but if you see this in time, would you mind sharing the name and e-mail address of the staff person you have been communicating with at Le Taha'a? Perhaps I have the wrong contact info.. or maybe they are just sick of answering all my questions.. :-p Thanks, and safe travels!

Thanks to all. I'll double check with my hubbie to see his preferences. I'm a sucker for a massage so I agree about the extra cash. Ichip - we'll be at Le Tahaa from 4/23 - 4/27. When will you be there? Also, I've received good e-mail response directly from the resort by using the "contact" e-mail on the www.pearlresorts.com website. Hope this helps.

Hi, I´ve planned to go to Le Private Tahaa on september 08, and I´ve read in this forum that sunset OW bungalows will be closed for renovation. Is it true? Thanks so much in advance.

patricia, at SPM (the reservations desk for pearl resorts and le Tahaa) they do not seem to know about renovations. only comment was that they would not do that towards the end of the year.
