I will try to figure out how to post some photos of the water...we took a ton of photos. Will post them soon so you can see what I mean about it being so dirty.

That is definitely one of the most important things for us. We wanted to go there because the lagoon looked like it was really beautiful but if it doesn't... we would rather spend our time elsewhere. I have seen pics online from people's trips and the water looked nice but definitely looked like it might be more rough.. maybe because it is windy? some pictures looked like there were white caps. Has anyone that has been there experienced this? or is the water relatively calm and good for hopping into the lagoon?

I look forward to your report and photos NYCC.

NYChic - Welcome home! I was definitely not psyched though, as I read of your mis-adventures at Le Taha'a.. thanks for sharing. Were there any recent storms there that might have mucked up the lagoon water, or is it typically the way you describe? What did the staff have to say about some of the issues you encountered? Would you mind trading e-mails with me so I can ask you some other questions? We have to decide very soon whether to keep our resort plans intact, or make a change. Thanks!

Does anyone else here have any info about Le Taha'a being bought by Outrigger, or if it's just rumor? Thanks, all.

I just checked the Outrigger website and there was a press release dated today about their plans to manage a luxury resort in Bali, but nothing about Le Taha'a or Te Tiare.

NYChic thanks for the report, I am getting ready to pull the trigger on my reservation and was waiting to hear your report. Similar to your trip we are going to stay 2 night at Sofitel on Moorea, 3 nights IC Thalaso and 2 nights at Le Tahaa. Based on your report I might forget Le Thaha and add the nignts on to Bora Bora. We have been to Bora Bora 4 years ago and stayed at the Pearl and we loved it.... Would love to see photos, if you would like to email them to me my email address is in my profile.

I wonder if all these sudden problems with Le Taha'a might be related to the construction/remodeling going on with their beach bungalows. The construction certainly could be stirring up bugs and other pests. And if the construction materials were being brought in on barges or something, maybe they are polluting the water, or maybe the construction debris is washing into the water.

For the hotels sake, I certainly hope this is a temporary problem. I remember a couple years ago the Moorea Sheraton got a sudden rash of bad reviews. Mostly linked to a strike there. But it certainly scared a lot of people who had reservations or were planning trips there. Once things settled back down, the hotel again was receiving rave reviews. Hopefully this will be the case for Le Taha'a. I have read so many wonderful reviews over the past few years, it's hard to beleive things could have suddenly become so bad. I imagine between the remodel ending soon and these less than stellar reviews, they will get back up to speed very quickly. I would imagine the hotels monitor this site as well as Trip Advisor and are well aware of the bad pub they are suddenly getting, and will try to remedy it as quickly as possible.

Patti - I hope you're right.. although it may not come back around in time for our visit (4/15-21), and we're among those thinking of ditching to the Thalasso. I was looking forward to crystalline waters, and it sounds like they need to recover.

jchip~ I can certainly understand your concerns. Your trip is just a few weeks away. If it were later this summer, I wouldn't be so concerned if I were you. It's a hard choice. Do you bail, or do you take a chance with the hopes that it'll be better. I'm glad it's not me having to make that choice.

How many days do you have planned at Le Taha'a...and is it before or after Bora Bora?
