Trying to plan our FP honeymoon...TOO many decisions!! Right now I have two options: 1)4nights Moorea (deluxe garden bungalow)/3nights Bora Bora (deluxe OWB) OR 2)4nights Moorea (premium OWB)/3nights Huahine (garden bungalow). We are a young couple who like to snorkel so great water and lots of fish would be ideal! Again, it's our honeymoon, so we're looking for romance and relaxation!! Any opinions would be great...I do realize that Huahine and Bora Bora are probably very different...I just can't decide if visiting FP and NOT going to Bora Bora is crazy! Thanks in advance for your help!

As a person who loves Huahine the best, I would say to go to Bora Bora. It's your honeymoon and probably the place to go for that dream. Then once you've been to FP, you can decide what it is that you are looking for. We always feel the first trip somewhere is an experiment. If you love FP, you will be back. There are options that make it not so expensive once you learn about FP. Although for snorkeling it sounds like the Tuomotos are the place to go.

We stayed at the Sofitel in Moorea before they had their remodel. We loved it as they had the best beach and it just had a great feeling about it. It is far from everything ,so if you want to leave, you have to have a car, take bikes, hitchhike or get picked up to go on tours or to other restaurants. People say that the Sheraton has the best snorkeling in Moorea. If you choose to go to Sofitels, go on their website and get their Privilege card. It's free. I'm not sure what you get with it anymore. You used to be able to accumulate points for upgrades. And you used to be able to get late check-out. If you stay at the Sofitels, then maybe you can get a better deal if you stay at 2 Sofitels. Also, right above the Sofitel in Moorea is the Temae Lookout. My husband would go every morning for sunrise. I didn't get up and I could kick myself now, but he said that the clouds would rise above Tahiti every morning and it was amazing. He said that it was like Tahiti being born everyday.I do not know about the Sofitels in Bora Bora. I think there are a lot of discussions about them on this site. FP is so amazing that it's hard to imagine. It's even better than the pictures, if you can imagine that!

We loved the Sofitel Motu on Bora. Stayed before the remodel on Moorea and all so really liked the resort.

Go to Bora for your honeymoon. Make a pact to go back to FP on your 5th anniversary (ok, earlier if you can). On that subsequent visit, book Huahine........you can't go wrong. Best wishes, vai

If you have not been to FP before, Bora Bora is always a great choice. It is still a beautiful island, but I must say, last time I was there, the large hotels were taking over the place, which personally, I don't care for. Also, the coral in the lagoon had died because of a high-temperature storm. The more times we go to FP (12 times so far) the more we are now loving the more isolated islands. Rangiroa and Huahine are now our favorites. We did try Manihi, but... not enough culture or anything there, except the pearl farms, which were interesting. Want to try Fakarava... sounds interesting.
Yep; Bora Bora on your first trip, but next time..... try for another adventure!

BB would be good to "kick it off" so to speak but indeed for snorkeling hmmmm depending where you end up staying you would have to take an excursion to go to the remaining snorkling sites. Some of the newly built motu resorts have very little or no coral at all and it is not like you can just go off swimmiing around searching for a good spot due to strong currents and boat traffic. Why not look into couple of nights Bora (for the magic) and then head out to Rangiroa, Kia Ora (and/or Kia ora Sauvage) it will give you a taste of the "high" volcanic islands and the atolls as well.

Although having seen both and much prefering Huahine to Bora Bora, I agree with the others and would still recommend Bora Bora for a first trip. The Sofitel Motu is a great choice if you like snorkeling since some of the best snorkeling on Bora Bora is right around that motu. However, I do feel the snorkeling on Huahine is much better than Bora Bora.
