We have a late flight out of Raiatea (5pm or something like that...) I was wondering if it is a hassle getting on to the boat from Le Tahaa and then the plane to PPT and then the flight back to JFK for us. Seems like we are going to be running around like crazy that last day. How convenient is this and do they usually run everything on time. I am assuming Le Tahaa will make us check out early too since it is high season and was wondering if this last day is pretty much wasted in travel or if I might be able to plan something small that day ie snorkeling, spa, etc.

If I recall correctly (it's been since April 2004), we got to the airport approximately 45 minutes before the flight. The boat at Le Taha'a was waiting for us (they schedule the boat to correspond with the interisland flight schedule)and it took like 30-45 minutes (it may have been less, but it seemed like a longer ride). So, assume that you are leaving the resort an hour and a half before your flight. It might even be longer.
From what I recall, I checked out at 11am and left my bags at the front desk and had an early lunch. I did Le Taha'a first before moving on to Bora Bora, so being clean and showered wasn't quite a priority and I also took an earlier flight. If you do anything on your last day, I'd make sure it's before 11am, although they did have a day room facility available. I'm not sure if they kept that during the renovations. I'd stick with something at the spa and then check out and have lunch.

Spot on Jells. The boat was about 40 minutes to the airport last June and yes - it did seem longer. And yes, they schedule the boat with the inter island flights still. We stayed at Bora Bora Pearl before Le Taha'a and were talked into the helicopter transfer by a lovely woman from Pearl BB when we booked. After travelling to the airport when we left, we were really glad we took the helicopter transfer - plus we got some really good photos of Bora Bora from the helicopter.
