The drift snorkel on Rangiroa is a 1/2 day tour. Interesting experience but numbers of fish vary. Very few things to see when I did it last year but others have raved about their experience. I thought the snorkeling in the coral gardens was much better than the drift.

TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.

By the "coral gardens" do you mean the "aquarium"? I'm hoping to be there next year on the PG, and see very little choice in the snorkelling department. I'd love to do some there, since the best snorkelling I've ever experienced was in Manihi, off the Pearl hotel.

Yes Wendy. They call the coral gardens the "aquarium".
