We are on the TP in July and have booked for an AM drift snorkel that finishes at about 12 midday. It has been suggested to me that we could book a treatment at the Manea Spa for the afternoon. Has anyone done this and did they enjoy it? We like a bit of pampering. thanks Jane

Hi Jane and welcome to the forum. Are you sure there is a Manea Spa on Raiatea? There is one at Le Taha'a which my wife and I had the Couples package last June. It was expensive but awesome. Great massage with crushed cocnut and vanilla, followed by a facial (I'd never had a facial before but it was sooo relaxing). Then we had a fruit platter sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the interior lagoon. Talk about relaxed when it was finished!

Hi Gary - I have checked my book and you are right. It appears that Le Taha is a boat trip away from Raiatea. Do you have any idea how long it would take and are there regular water taxis? I have emailed the Manea Spa but I realise that it may take time to get a reply. That package that you had sounds fantastic - exactly my sort of thing. Thanks for your help. Jane

As far as I know, the only way you can get to Le Taha'a is via the hotel's boat shuttle or helicopter. I'm not sure the hotel allows non-guests to use their facilities. I'm sure someone like Pacific Andy can confirm that. That being said, I really enjoyed the Manea Spa. I had a facial and reflexology massage! It's not the best spa I've ever been to, but it was pretty unique.

Thanks for your replies. I received an email from the hotel with the menu so they obviously don't have a problem with day trippers! They said that it would be a 45minute water taxi ride from Raiatea. Gary - do you know what the package that you had was called - they have a couples package for 3 1/2 hours. Would that be the one? I love day spas and treatments especially in places that I haven't visited before and thought that this might be a fun thing to do. Jane

Yeah Jane, we had the couples package. It was just under 4 hours. It was amazing. I'm no "day Spa" person (my wife loves them) but I am now a convert. My wife was pretty impressed with the guy that massaged her and I was VERY impressed with the young lady that massaged me! Both Tahitian. Definitely worth the 45 minute boat ride. It will also give you a chance to check out the resort. Hope this helps.
