For us, we're planning to go into town in the morning so we do need our bags stored anyway (I'm not walking around Papeete with suitcases). We're only storing one or two bags (so 1200 XPF??) and will take Le Truck back & forth to Papeete. If we weren't doing that, a taxi to the motel might make sense.

Old Wife,
What time of day/night are you coming into Papeete? Of course, it will be much easier to find in the daytime, we attempted it in the dark around 9 pm. We did drag 4 suitcases with carryons and made it, we're in our early 50's. If it cost about the same to take a taxi to the Motel as it does to store luggage, I would suggest taking the taxi, it will make it so much better for you. But then you did mention you wanted to take Le Truck into town and so you would have nowhere to store your luggage unless you asked the motel to store it for you until you got back.

We're arriving in the dark, too (our flight lands at 9:30 pm local time). We'll only have backpacks to carry (not heavily loaded) and I'll be turning 50 2 weeks later (my husband's 2 years younger) and we've been working out at a gym (weights/cardio/yoga/pilates/tai chi) so we should be pretty buff, LOL.

Yes, I need to store our luggage so we can go into Papeete the next morning so I don't want to pay for a taxi plus storage. I did wonder if the hotel would keep it. In fact, we could stay checked in while we visit Papeete and then return to the hotel, check out, go across the road & check in for our flight. Lots to think about!

My advice is to store your luggage at the luggage storage place. The reason is that you do not want to go back to the hotel. When you get off of Le Truck, you will easily walk down the stairs and pick up your luggage. If you have to go back to the hotel, it's more walking and wasting time that could be used for more interesting things. We're closer to 60 (I can hardly believe it!) and although we did not walk to the hotel, we walked up to get Le Truck which is not too far from the entrance to the hotel. It is nothing in terms of exertion and you being so buff, or as my kids would say "cut", you can probably jog it.

That's a good point, holte. We'd have to drag all of that luggage down from the hotel, too, which I'd prefer not to do.

We will be arriving in Papeete at 10:35pm, and after getting our luggage etc figure it will be at least 11:30 - was anyone able to confirm what the cost of the taxi up the hill to this motel was? We will be flying out at around 11:00 am to Rangiroa the next morning, so it is really just a place to lay our heads for a couple of hours.

Also, when I looked at the rates page for this hotel I found it a little confusing, can anyone give me the ballpark amount for a double room. Thanks,

The price is 9600 XPF plus local taxes: VAT 6 % + RPT 5 % plus 150 XPF per person / per day. I've no idea of the taxi cost.

Old Wife sorry - my brain isn't working (something about being home all day with kids!) is the whole amount per person per day, or just the 150XPF? Thanks.

The 150 is per person. The total for one or two people is 9600 XPF plus the taxes plus 150 XPF per person (so 300 XPF if there are 2 of you). I think that's just over 10800 XPF/per night for 2 people. I'm trying to remember if I already paid it when I booked it. Yes, I just looked it up & it was $144 Canadian (back in April)...the exchange will vary over time, but that gives you an idea of the cost for the 2 of us.
