Lounge chairs: yep, seems to be very American to "save" them and not use them. We were shocked when, at the Moorea Pearl, we were able to find lounge chairs (including the super cool one under the big tree) in the middle of the day. That wouldn't happen in Mexico. Perhaps someone can teach us manners some day?
The overwaters at the IC: we've stayed once in a motu bungalow and once in the deep water/lagoon bungalow. Both were great. The lagoon one did seem newer and it had a killer bathroom, more space between bungalows (we were on the "arm" that sticks out) as well as more floor space. The motu ones seemed overall to have better views (some killer views from the lagoon ones of Moorea, while others faced Tahiti proper, which we liked). The motu bungalows also seemed better for snorkelling. I personally think it's a great way to go; the only possible "downside" is that there was no glass bottom floor (supposedly the new Thalasso model has that) for fish viewing.

for their last night in fp, we surprised my folks with a motu OWB at tahiti's IC...and they loved it! my dad thought the snorkeling off the bungalow was great and both enjoyed relaxing on the deck and watching the clouds/weather over moorea.

p.s. next time...my mom said she would prefer to stay closer to papeete rather than at the IC. she really enjoyed the sights, sounds and tastes of the city...especially le marche and les roulottes!

thank you for your kind words. because of everyone's support, i enjoyed planning the trip as much as they enjoyed taking it!
i'm glad my folks caught the flu! a return trip would be nice but even one will be enough for us to savor for a lifetime!
manuia!
p.s. although my knowledge of fp is strictly second-hand, i'm glad to share what i and my folks learned/experienced.

Carley et al,
Well now we have gone and done it! We decided to splurge and take the OWB Villa which is an exact duplicate of the ones at Bora Bora Thalasapo (sp. I guess the way we looked at it we didn't want to be spoiled by going over there early and yet wanted those same type of OWBs. This was the answer. In fact I have my parents checking out the IC during their cruise this month and they will let us know how everything looks. I was going to splurge and buy the lunch at the Le Lotus but it is being rennovated!!! I guess this will be nice since it will be done by the time we get there. My feeling is that no matter where you stay it will be amazing!!!

I will pop back in once we return, I just can't imagine that the whole trip will be anything less than spectacular. I am in Colorado Springs, been here 14 years and I just love it.
