Okay, so from the previous posts we established that I'd spend two nights in Moorea at Motu Iti (which I just booked...friendly chap, he is), and one night in Moorea on an OWB in Sheraton right next door to Motu Iti. So, now...I've a question. My last night, in Tahiti, before my 7:30am flight back to the US, where would be appropriate to stay? Here would be the requirements:

[list]
[*]need to be close enough to catch a 7:30am flgiht back to the US[*]
[*]need to step out for dinner and shopping
[*]it can't be a hole in the wall, where I'm fighting my sleeping space with a roach
[*]
Any suggestions?

(...you guys are amazing...I should send all of you a hand written thank you letter with some home made cookies)

We stayed at the Intercontinental.
Very nice would stay there again.
Sheraton is closer to airport.

A cheaper alternative is the Tahiti Airport Motel, right across the street from the airport (but up a steep hill). You could take le truck into Papeete for dinner at the roulottes near the ferry docks and some shopping the afternoon/evening before. Do a search on this forum for another post about this place.

We'e always stayed at the Intercontinental (love it!) and taken Le Truck into town for quick eats/shopping (although we love, love, love hanging out at the IC-- Le Lotus is one of our favs, there is good snorkelling, and an excellent swim up bar with views of Moorea), but based on your criteria I might try the Sheraton. It's a very close walk to town without being in the actual downtown (and there is something very appealing to us about being able to step out and walk rather than waiting for transportation). Obviously, it would not be a hole in the wall either ;)

We've stayed at the Sheraton 3 times and would stay there again. As stated above you can walk to town from there and its only about 5 minutes drive to the airport. There is a le truck stop right in front of the Sheraton as well.

This is so awesomely cool! You guys are the best!!! Thanks a million for this advice.

I'm putting on my MBA hat (sorry...just about to graduate from B-School). You guys ever think of getting together and writing a travel book on Tahiti, and maybe marketing that in Western Europe, Japan, and US?

Jan Prince has already written the book, and it's about to come out in 5th edition! "Tahiti and French Polynesia Guide," by Open Road Publishing. It's considered the "Bible" for us repeat visitors!

We've stayed at the Tahiti Sheraton 4 times and like it just fine. It is fairly reasonable by FP standards and we have always been treated nicely. Added plus: Le Truck stops just in front of the hotel!!

Check back to an entry that I made about the Airport Hotel. In a nutshell, it is basic, clean, not expensive, but you do need to take a taxi even though it's just across the highway. This adds to your basic inexpensive cost...

We like staying at the Sheraton. Seems to be in the middle of most things.
